Are You an Apple Fanboy?

You know exactly who I’m talking about, don’t you? Fanboys are those people who swear that one manufacturer or another is better than everyone else. They will argue until they are blue in the face, claiming that nothing can possibly come close to being as good as their beloved company and its products. I have witnessed some ludicrous statements in my time coming from fanboys, but none as bad as the one directed at me on Wednesday – from an Apple fanboy!

All afternoon, I experienced repeated and random outages from my Comcast connection. I was busy on Twitter talking with a representative that was helping me to solve the issue. It was obvious from the tweets flying through my stream that the issue was indeed Comcast’s fault, and they were able to get everything squared away by late afternoon.

A few hours later, I was attempting to upload a video to YouTube for my boss. Keep in mind I had been attempting to do this all day already, and it would repeatedly fail due to the Internet connection issues I had had. With Comcast up and stable, I mistakenly thought that I could finally get some work done.

Wrong! YouTube decided to choose that particular time to take that feature away to perform some type of maintenance on it. You have to be kidding me!! I headed back to Twitter to vent my frustration, and that’s when the fanboy hit. Within about thirty seconds of my tweet hitting the airwaves, I received the following back:

Geez, Kat. You wouldn’t keep having these issues if you would use a Mac instead of that stupid Windows machine of yours!

I am not making this up. This kid honestly told me that the issues with Comcast dropping packets everywhere, as well as YouTube’s site maintenance, were 100% the fault of my Windows computer. I had no idea that Microsoft was that powerful, did you?

Things like this are what coined the label “fanboy” to begin with, and why so many of us shudder every time we talk to one. This kid is so wrapped up in his love for his Mac that his mind is completely closed. He has no real sense of what works in this World, beyond what he sees on his own desk. He doesn’t care that there are just as many issues with a Mac as there can be on a Windows box. They may be different issues, but they are there, nonetheless.

Please tell me none of you are fanboys! If you are, I may just have to throw popcorn at you, and then attempt to un-brainwash you!
