How?
At Geeks to Go we share the magic. Our tech experts provide free tech help in our forums. We share our technical knowledge with others in need. We get a magical feeling whenever we get a heartfelt thanks from someone we’ve been able to help.
This prize package contains an embarrassment of riches. We’re going to ask our contest winner to share the feeling that comes from giving magic. To enter our contest, simply reply in the comments with what part of the prize package you’d share, and with whom you’d share it (no full names please). The winner will be drawn at random from the qualified entries. So, while there’s no need for a long entry, I and others may enjoy reading them.
The holidays are a time for giving. Many organizations and individuals are in need. We recommend a donation to an organization, not an individual or relative, but the final decision is yours. If requested, we can mail your donation anywhere in the world. We also want to hear your story! If possible, take videos or photos of your recipient, along with a story of the donation. We’d like to publish it, and share your experience of giving magic.
When?
The winner will be drawn from qualified comments posted between December 04, 2008, and December 10, 2008 12PM (noon) CST. Our announcement will be posted shortly after noon (CST) on December 10, 2008 (subscribe to our RSS feed). The winner will also be notified via the email address they used to comment. If 24 hours goes by without a reply, a new winner will be chosen.
Who?
This is an international competition. We will ship the prize package, including any donated portion to anyone worldwide (as permitted by US law). Staff members of this site (including GeekU), previous winners from other sites participating in this contest, and employees of HP, Microsoft, and BuzzCorps are not allowed to enter — bummer.
The Rules
- Entries accepted as comments in this post only. Entries in any other areas of the site will not be counted.
- ONE entry per person. Those entering more than once will be disqualified (it’s easy to catch).

- A US winner will receive payment from HP, Microsoft and Buzzcorps to offset the tax liability.
- Geeks to Go reserves the right to change the rules of this contest as needed.

I would most likely just take a laptop and desktop for myself, the rest I would give to my manager, his wife, and family as they are on some rather old systems and im always up there tinkering just to make them run for the next day. I would love for everyone involved to have a reliable computer. We also are working on a organization soon and for that we REALLY need computers that can stay up and running worrie free. This would be the answer to such a dillema. Not to mention my mom could use a computer to talk to my sisters and brothers whom have all moved away. So I think one of them would have to go to her for sure.
Its amazing that HP and those they asked to do this, are fallowing through. What a great way to show christmas spirit!

I would definitely keep the TouchSmart, and one of the laptops. I can't pick right now though, they are all TOO SWEET!!
I have a few good friends that could use these those. A good friend of mine, Keri, is planning on moving to another college with hey Boyfriend. I figure she could use one to help her out.
MY father could use one as well for his teachings, so he would definitely get one.

I'd love to have the TouchSmart for myself! But, I'd be happy to share the entertainment laptop with my mom (to replace her ancient Toshiba with it's Cel1000), my sister could use the netbook (to replace her Dell P4 that was brought back to life with a 13GB hard drive) And the premium laptop could go to a friend of mine that's been very important in my life to replace her long suffering Duron 1000 and IBM 570 laptop. We'd share the printer (to replace the printers we use now). And then I'd pass on the computers we are no longer using to the local woman's shelter, to which I have donated computers previously.

All I'd keep for myself would be the printer because this is what I need the most, and possibly the Kung Fu Panda BD disc, of course
I'd give the rest off to members of my family as their gear - or lack of same - is either old or nonexistent.

The HP HDX 18 Notebook would go to my father who's for the past year saying he needs a new computer and is still using an old 300 MHz desktop running Windows 98
.
The HP Pavilion dv4t, HP Photosmart C6380 Wireless AIO multifunction, and Microsoft Office 2007 would go to my brother so he could have something to for school assignments and take notes.

I will set most of the systems up at my sister's clinic. She's a pediatrician and most of her patients are not that well off, so we had fun-for-kid furniture and books to make their trips more enjoyable. What the place is lacking are computers and tv/vid monitors.
I'll keep the Corel VideoStudio X2 and the mini 1000.
I think the clinic doesn't need two notebooks, so I'll ask my sister where should we put one of it to better use.

Thank you to you and HP for doing this contest. I'm an Assistant English Teacher in rural Japan. If I am selected to win, I would give most of the prize to the middle and elementary school I work at in my village. The school's website is: http://fish.miracle.ne.jp/chibuchu/ . The village, Chibu Village, is on a small island in the Sea of Japan. The middle school has 13 students in 7th-9th grade, and the elementary school has 29 students in 1st-6th grade. While they do have some computers, they are very old--they're running Windows 2000, I think. Lately, I've been working on writing a Japanese-English dictionary program which displays pictures and uses Windows speech synthesis to provide pronunciation. I don't think these old computer are up to the task, and I would like a PC dedicated for the children to use. The elementary school could also use the printer, and perhaps the middle school could use the video software to create videos, if it has support for Japanese. Also, I would give the Mini 1000 to my girlfriend, because she has no computer and would like a netbook for college.

If I was to win, I would give the HP touchsmart desktop PC to my family as I personally feel it's a great family computer (and looks amazing to), who wouldn't want a touch screen! The HP pavilion dv4 I would give to my sister as she's at uni and currently has a brick of a laptop. The HP mini 1000 I would probably use for uni as I have a stone aged laptop. As for the hp mediasmart connect digital media receiver - definately for family. The wireless printer/hp 564 Photo value pack, again, for family. Vista, would be for my dad as his computer needs upgrading! And, the rest of the software would definately be a gift to friends.

I used to volunteer in the IT Department at Bootstrap Enterprises, http://www.bootstrap.org.uk, which is a training and support provider which focuses on helping the local community, businesses and teenagers find work, gain qualifications, get support and help, they also refurbish and donate computers to charities. We would collect unwanted hardware and strip them into parts and make computers that we then donated computers to all who needed not just charities but needy members of the public, we also would go out to businesses and the local council and provide free tech support and training. If i won i would be donating some of the hardware to Bootstrap for them to use in-house and lend out to businesses and charities who need them, if i win i would keep one laptop for myself, give one to my father who has just come out of hospital after a major operation and the rest I will share out appropriately.

Let's start here:
I have the privilege of working for a fantastic education organization in Indonesia that builds high-quality international schools for the wealthier Indonesians and then uses that money to benefit the less fortunate. These are referred as "pelita" schools. I teach at Sekolah Pelita Harapan in Lippo Cikarang. My wife and two kids moved with me here half a year ago from the States to be a part of this great work.
What is great about what the Foundation does is that they take the money they "make" from the higher level "pelita" schools to then build two other types of schools: "dian" schools for the middle class (these schools break even as far as funding goes) and then "lentara" schools (where all of there funding comes from outside sources because the students families are unable to pay for an education).
The mission of the Foundation is to build ten pelita schools, one hundred dian schools, and one thousand lentara village schools. What is great about the lentara schools are they are completely free to the students, most of which would have no opportunity for an education. They are in Indonesian villages and while they are staffed with high quality Indonesian teachers, they still have very limited access to quality resources. That is where the magic begins.
What I would do with with the HP Magic Giveaway computers is to help every level of the schools that I mentioned to give them better opportunities at a world class education.
First, I would set up the Touchsmart in my classroom, giving my students (the future leaders of this burgeoning nation) a jumpstart into 21st century learning; helping them to not only be content consumers, but more importantly content producers. We would use it to create dynamic kml tours for Google Earth for geography and blogging for English. We could then use those and many more resources that the students and teachers create to pass down to both the dian and lentara village schools.
We (my class) would donate one of the laptops to a nearby (or faraway) lentara village school so that the teachers and students from both my school and the lentara school can exchange ideas, lessons, and friendships. This would greatly benefit both parties as the lentara schools would have better access to content and the pelita students would be able to have a greater knowledge of a constituency here in Indonesia that all too often is forgotten: the village poor.
For the remaining computers (and Kung-Fu Panda), they would most likely be used as tools in one of the three levels of schools. I can see the Mini 1000 being used as a field computer to gather data from the eco-garden that we are trying to build. The other laptop could be used as a mobile training computer, used to train both dian and lentara staff in new methodology. Truly, the opportunities in education would be endless.
Thank you for even giving us the opportunity to compete.

I would use the Mini 1000 for school, taking it to lecture with me, and use the HDX at home in my dorm. I would give the Desktop and the Media Receiver to my mom, who likes to watch lots of Asian dramas. My uncle needs a new laptop, so I would give him the dv4 laptop. He also is a photographer, so he would like the printer. I would give the Kung Fu Panda to my little cousin. Not sure what I would do with the rest of the software, maybe donate it somewhere.

I use 2 laptops for my village. Most of the people know basics of the computers. Many people have poor economic background and they want to study and reach a good position. These laptops can be very useful for them where they can use it freely anytime. I will also get the Internet connection for them which will be much more useful for the students. And also our institute has a very good service, e-Sagu: An IT based Personalized Agricultural Extension System, for farmers. Most of the farmers in our village can access this service using these laptops. It will be of great use for the farmers and the students.
In brief, I will use the 2 laptops i) to familiarize the village people in using computers and internet, ii) to provide the training freely (this may take some time to regularize) iii) to provide free e-mail fecilities for the people who have their relatives staying outside the village(mostly abroad and longer distance) and some other services totally freely.
The above idea have been in my mind for a long time. But as I can’t afford to buy the required accessories alone, I have been waiting for funds from my friends to implement the above. Currently I am studying…so I am not able to buy the computers…Adding to the above laptops I will try to collect some funds from my friends and buy some more accessories to make it successful.
And I will use the remainig package for my research work and entertainment while also using them for the 2nd cause when needed.

I would keep the other notebook to my self as a birthday present, as I am 17 on the 9th December! What a present that would be if I win!

The only item I would keep for myself is the HDX laptop, as my desktop is terrible and my laptop is broken. This would be great for supporting my work.
Everything else in the package would go to a small children's school called Cherry Gardens in my local area. It's a very poor school so they don't have any good IT facilities, and most of the kids there come from poor backgrounds so it would be nice for them to have usage of good technology at the school. It will be a huge aid in their education and help them gain standard computer literacy skills and more. It will also open doors for more creativity from them.

Zoe Rose was the most fragile of premature triplet girls. Zoe’s needs were complex, but it was her hearing loss that offered me the magnificent opportunity to get to know her, her family and the still-growing community of Zoe’s cheering squad.
Zoe came home when she was almost 11 months old and she had a few glorious months with her mom and dad and her sisters Avery and Lily. Last February, Zoe fell ill and after a valient struggle to gain her strength, Zoe died in her mother’s arms.
Zoe’s parents have started the Zoe Rose Memorial Foundation, an organization developed to support families of premature infants to access necessary information as they embark on their journey.
This awesome prize package would offer the founding board the chance to get off the ground running, providing technology for the board members to start their important work, making contacts, developing a website and reaching out to families in need.

What HP and you are doing is amazing!
The Christmas present would be shared like this:
- 1 laptop for my crazy-for-advertising-with-a-very-slow-pc-for-rendering-prints girlfriend (she is very talented, but her pc is so slow that her ideas are somewhat tortured by the time she loses with rendering); you can see one of her works here. She really puts passion in what she does and I really think that a new laptop (a powerful one actually) will help her to follow her dream.
- 2 laptops for two friends of mine who can’t afford one. We are part in a students’ programming team currently involved in a project that aims to build an open-source online platform for our University, at first, and then to distribute it to all universities that could make use of it. It should ease the tasks for professors, students and secretaries, building an online collaboration environment that would keep track of courses, schedules, official papers, etc. The fact that these 2 friends/colleagues of mine don’t afford buying laptops makes it so hard to write code while in the same study room and this really affects the code quality since the communication must be done using emails or chat rooms.
- I would like to replace my old desktop, so I guess I would keep that one for me.
- The media center would be a great gift for my parents and it sure would be a surprise to both of them. They both like to watch movies and listen music, so this would be just perfect. I wish I could buy them one if I don’t win…
You see, creativity comes in many shapes: whether it’s about an advertorial print or some code that translates into an useful application, it’s all about creating and touching people’s minds in different ways. Talent without support is a lost cause. And this prize is the support one could have. It’s a start-up for my girlfriend’s career and a necessity for my two friends/colleagues (we study Computer Science; pretty ironical…). As for me, it would make my Christmas happier. But the real joy will be to see the smile on their faces and to know that I shared a great prize with people who deserve it.
Please, help me help their talent grow.
Thank you!

I’m participating for myself & for our organization " Arushi " (http://www.arushi-india.org/) which means "The first ray of the sun" .This organization strives to integrate people with disabilities into the mainstream of society.

I already do have a computer & i seriously don’t need another.I would like to keep the Printer with me & let our organization decide how they will share the computers among the kids.We don’t have enough computers here in Arushi.Around 150 kids are sharing 10 old desktops. So, it would be highly helpful for us if they can get to use more computers. I hope you feel that Arushi is deserving.

I would gift the two laptops, having recently purchased a very nice one for myself. I would give one to my nephew who lives with his grandmother and currently doesn't have a computer or even internet access. He's 13 years old and currently comes over to my home in order to do his school work. I would also likely give him the AIO-printer and MS Office (I already have Office Ultimate thanks to my college. The other laptop would be determined at a later time as I haven't yet determined who is really needing such a nice gift, the selection would likely be one of several registered 501.3c charities I work with. One run is the local food pantry / thrift store and they could use one for their accounting. The other provides lunches to thousands of under privileged students every day. I also might give it to my brother who has 4 children and is being laid off in 3 weeks, his current computer is sitting next to me with a dead motherboard.

In case I win I this contest I would give the HP HDX 18 series Premium Notebook PC, HP Photosmart C6380 Wireless AIO multifunction, and Microsoft Office 2007, to Job Sudakar, a good friend of mine who is doing his PhD in Cancer Research at Sankara Nethralaya, Eye Hospital, Chennai, India. He joined for PhD about 6 months back and is badly in need of a laptop and cannot afford to buy one, since he borrowed money from me to pay for his educational fees.
I would personally like to keep the HP Pavilion dv4 series Entertainment Notebook PC, since I quit my job two months back to become a freelance graphics designer and currently I do all my work on a two year old Pentium IV machine, it would make my work easier especially when dealing with clients.
The rest I would donate to any NGO or charitable institute in my city.

They are a team that participates in competitive robot building competitions, and have been funded primarily by the auto industry. Now their funding is in trouble and they really need new computers so they can learn C++ programming, Web development, media editing, and other high powered applications.
I would give the touch screen desktop to my family who has never had a new computer in their lives (they have always gotten one from a friend or something like that) and I would keep the last hp laptop and share it with my sister.

I won't list were everything is going but in short the only thing that I am keeping for myself is the touch smart so I can start up my freelance web design business. A touch screen makes designing a lot more efficient.

I read many good stuff here how people want to share their victory. I honestly will say that the package will stay within my family. I am very kind person, but I have a poor family. My family is not only me and my parents. It is my relatives. Most of them live in a village in Uzbekistan. It is very expensive for my family to buy computers or other technology products. So i think it will be great opportunity for them to know that there is internet and its benefits in their lifes. To understand this situation i will give you an example from everday life.
Average salary of a family in Uzbekistan village is $100/per month. Average price of computers is $300 (a Pentium III with monitor and other features). Average price of a notebook is $1100. Do the math. I got a scholarship to study in London, because I learned English, when I was child. But most of my relatives they spend time in the village feeding cows and sheep. I think that it will help my family to learn more about technology and internet. Thank you for great opportunity

I've already seen my classroom and it is pretty awesome(but any room that I could call my own would be awesome!) Large with my own lab and Smartboard. There are bookshelves galore (I've already packed the books that I'm going to stuff them with). What I don't have in the classroom is a printer or any student computers (I'm already planning on bringing my own scanner). The photo printer and package would be just perfect as I am trying to switch over to a portfolio evaluation system (rather than just tests to gauge student progress) and pictures are very important to show actions like labs which are harder to put to paper.
My mother (who is retiring and planning to travel) will get one of the laptops, the premium one (she's worth it--trust me). My sister has a bottom of the line laptop so I'd swap out her laptop for the entertainment notebook and hers would come to my classroom along with the mini (which will be awesome out in the field!). I admit that I really really want the TouchSmart for myself (I have no TV and this sounds like an awesome upgrade to viewing movies on my laptop. I think the student-teacher Microsoft office goes without speaking and I trust that I will find good use for the other items. I can't send any photos of my sister's computer as she lives two hours away and my classroom is (currently!) five hours away but I would be happy to send pictures of everybody getting their prizes (and my new tricked out classroom!) as proof if I win. Please tech my room!
So item by item break down:
Hardware
• HP TouchSmart IQ816 PC Keeping for myself (yes I know I do feel a little guilty)
• HP HDX 18 series Premium Notebook PC Giving to momma (she really, really is worth it)
• HP MediaSmart Connect Going to my new school
• HP Pavilion dv4 series Entertainment Notebook PC (with Windows Live) going to my sister (who will give me her current laptop for my classroom)
• HP Mini 1000 (with XP) going to my classroom for field work
Accessories
• HP Photosmart C6380 Wireless AIO (printer) Classroom (yeah!)
• HP 564 Photo Value Pak Classroom (double yay!)
Software
• Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate/Home Premium or Microsoft Windows XP pre-installed on all units (Mini 1000 runs XP) Classroom
• Microsoft Office Home and Student Edition 2007 (Student-Teacher Edition) – 1 DVD with 3 licenses say it with me--classroom
• Microsoft Windows Live classroom
• Corel VideoStudio X2 the classroom (woot woot!)
Entertainment
• Kung Fu Panda (2 widescreen DVDs; 1 widescreen Blu-ray disc) Okay I have to admit I'm not sure where I'd give this maybe the local library?
You can tell that I've been entering some of the contests huh? Well that's okay, and even if I don't win I'll be happy because the most I really want from life is to spend it learning and share that joy with my students.

First of all I'd like to thank you and HP for hosting this contest. Now, down to the dirty work.
With Christmas just around the corner I'd be the best guy in town with all th'HP TouchSmart IQ816 AIO Desktop PC' would go to one of my best friends as he has screwed his computer over too many times with all this chubby-porn. His computer has been so corrupted that not even geekstogo could help fix this it. Honestly, it gets annoying having to scan and fix his computer every few weeks.
I'd like to keep the 'HP HDX 18 series Premium Notebook PC' & 'HP Photosmart C6380 Wireless AIO multifunction' as it would be perfect for my photography work.
I'd give the 'HP Pavilion dv4 series Entertainment Notebook PC' to the family so they can watch dvds and check their mails on the go.
The 'HP Mini 1000' would go to another one of my good friends, you see he was born with all things 'small'. So it would be rude to give him a BIG laptop and rub his face in it, so he'd get the mini
.
I would donate the 'HP MediaSmart Connect digital media receiver' to a local charity. The 'Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate and Home Premium preinstalled', well if they were in a box I'd probably hike up a cliff and see how far I could throw them as I'm an XP Pro guy myself.
Although I'd more than likely donate them to the above charity along with 'Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student Edition', 'Microsoft Windows Live' & 'Corel VideoStudio X2'. Finally but not least I'd give Kung Fu panda to my nephews as they love it!
Thanks for reading,
Great Site!

I would keep the HDX for myself. I am still limping along with a 450 MHz pentium III with WinXP, 512MB RAM, and a 12 GB HDD.
I would give the TouchSmart to my wife, who has an even older system. An HP Pavillion Pentium II with Win98. She would finally be able to publish the book she started writing several years ago.
I would give the Mini 1000 to my son, who is 14, and hasd never had a computer. His interest in multimedia is limited by the slow capabilities of our family's machines.
I would give the Pavilion dv4 to my mother- and father-in-law who have never had a computer of their own. It would be worth all the gifts just to see the look in their eyes when they received it. They would be able to listen to internet radio and news programs without having a time limit before someone had to take back their machine, and send e-mail and pictures of their grandkids.

I would keep the HDX laptop and MediaSmart for my work & personal use respectively.
The HP Touchsmart + CorelStudio would go to the local school where I live (UGA).
The KungFu panda, wireless printer and photo pack goes to a homeless shelter (Athens Area Homeless shelter)
HP Mini & dv4 laptop will go to my family in Nigeria (nuclear family).
MS Office will go to my father-in-law as well as the Windows Live subscriptions.
Thanks!

I would probably keep the best laptop and then give the other one's away as Christmas gifts since I usually don't buy gifts during the Christmas season(I'm pretty much broke). The Kung Fu Panda DVD I would give to my younger cousins because they love that movie. The printer, while it doesn't have a fax on it but it would still be nice to give to my aunt even though she just bought one for $40.

I would keep the TouchSmart for myself. The rest I would donate to our local nurseries. I think it is very important for the young kids to learn how to properly use computers in a fun and friendly environment. My goal on the TouchSmart is to write some fun interactive activities that kids would have fun and learn at the same time.
Thank you!

I will share most of it. Don't need more than a Notebook/Netbook (haven't decided yet).
I want gift/help friends, family and my old techers who have started an association to help less favored children from "not conventional" families to keep a smile and have an opportunity. They have asked me to help them anyway I can and now this opportunity has landed in the precise moment to try it.
Don't expect much since must be zillions of people trying but, It's Christmas and Hope is here...
FELICES FIESTAS Y PRÓSPERO AÑO NUEVO!!!

A PC and a NoteBook will go for the Jordanian Society for Protection from Family Violence (JSPFV), a non-profit organization which my parents are involved with. Since they're in need of equipment, I'll be giving away a PC and notebook to them.
The TouchSmart will be kept at home and probably be hooked with the TV. Since I'll leave to college, it would be great entertainment to my parents when the house becomes empty. To college, I'll take one of the notebooks to stay connected with family and friends.
I'll give a copy of VideoStudio to a friend who's serious about movie making, creating short movies for the Jordan River Foundation regarding poverty, war, etc.
I'll give a copy of Kung Fu Panda for my a friend of mine, a cartoon freak who hadn't got a chance to watch it yet.

I will only keep the Mini 1000 laptop for travel purposes. The other items will be divided up between my mother, sister, and her two children. I think my sister would get the most use out of the Touchsmart PC. My mother would enjoy the HDX notebook, and my nieces/nephews would enjoy the DVD. My sister would enjoy the extender as well which would allow her to play recorded tv on another television for the kids. The prize package is truly too much for one person and I would be thrilled to be able to share it with my family.

I would give both of the larger laptops away. My one aunt has 5 kids under 13. They are not financially fortunate by any means. They started remodeling their house 7 years ago and it's still in shambles. I think the kids could definately benefit from the use of a computer for their school work and for learning. The second laptop would go to my Father-in-Law. He has to travel all over the US, Puerto Rico, and Canada for his job. They put him in hotels with wireless internet all the time but he only has a cell phone that may or may not work. Being away from home for weeks a time with little communication is really difficult.

I would give a portion to Wayne and his family. They lost their house, as well as all of their belongings, in a fire about a month ago. We have been trying to help out here at work by donating clothes and raising money for essentials, but that doesn't count electronics. In these hard economic times, work is slow, and its hard to raise extra money. Wayne and his wife, have a son who is 13, and a daughter who is 17. Given their ages, I'm sure they are missing their computer time. I just think this would be a great Christmas gift for them, so i would give them the 2 laptops and the printer. I would most likely keep the desktop and netbook for myself. My desktop is old, and I need a lighter notebook for travel.

WoW!!!! I actually plan on sharing two computers, three licenses and three Kun Fu Panda DVDs. I actually will also be donating my printer to a ministry service here in town. I really need an all in one system because I go to school online and my printer (although very good and pricy) does not allow me to scan and I don't own a scanner. So, not only will I be sharing many parts of the package, I will be donating some of my pieces of equipment as well. Kind of like upgrading and recycling the old. Many people will benefit here!!!!
I would love to win because I could surly use a new computer for the family...I would also love the mini because they are so darn cute and I have done nothing more than dream about owning one since I couldn't just outright purchase one with our finances.
This is an aboslutely wonderful giveaway and I will be crossing my fingers to win!!!!!

In 2003, when my oldest daughter was just 9 years old, she was rushed to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon for an emergency appendectomy. The doctors and nurses at the hospital were amazing, and the care she received was top-notch. While we only needed to stay overnight, we were humbled by the much braver fight other families were facing in the rooms all around us. I would love for most of the HP prize package (minus just one laptop and one of the Kung Fu Panda dvds for my family of 7) to be donated to Doernbecher’s for use by the families who must spend days, weeks, or even months in the facility as their children fight tremendous battles. At such a time, it is important that they be able to stay connected to others, or even just have a chance to play and be entertained.

Dear geekstogo,
I would love to win the complete package to share computers to different persons I would like to thank.
First, a computer for my cousin which is a 17-years old girl that is making my life easier for about a year and a half. We never know how we are chaning someone's life.. and I would like to show her that she has changed my life and that I'm glad to be myself now.
Then, I would like to give another computer to a student in need in the high school I went before becoming a Ph.D in computing science. It is a small high school for non-rich people and I think it should be very interesting to give someone there a computer !
I also would like to give a computer to the hospital that saved my life 2 years ago when being the youngest patient for in surgery for slipped disc .. which was even worst than that because of malformations.
The rest will go to my parents which bring me everything I needed while being a child... and that have hard times these last years.
Be sure to get videos of every single gift I offer on my website if I get the chance to win this package.

Wow, what a great contest.
Giving away parts of the prize is pretty easy, with so much to choose from.
My wife gets the printer/scanner and the mini. She works for an arts organization and winds up taking home lots of work, and doing lots of meetings on the road. This would greatly help her out.
My sister gets her pick of the other two laptops. She does craft work at home, and her current laptop just went out. I would keep whichever she doesn't choose.
The touchsmart would be a great first PC for my parents.

Thanks!

That's definitely too much hardware for a single person so I would share the prize with my family and friends. I'd keep the HP TouchSmart IQ816 and retire my old Athlon-64 desktop tower and CRT monitor, which would save me a lot of much needed desk space in my cramped room (see the embarrassing picture in attachment, sorry for the quality). The Photosmart C6380 printer would come in handy when I print my PhD thesis (I'm a researcher in Developmental Biology), and the HP Mini 1000 would be great for writing it on the commute to the lab (and hopefully finish it sooner). The HP HDX 18 would go to my cousin, Armando, a struggling landscape architect who'd appreciate the large screen real-estate and horsepower for his CAD work. My parents are a little behind the times so I would give them the HP Pavilion dv4 so that they can finally get on the internet (I'll admit that this would not be an entirely unselfish gift, I would be trading "tech support" for Mom's cookings). In don't have room for a TV (or much time to watch it anyway) so the HP MediaSmart Connect would go to my friend Sara (giving me an excuse to visit her more). And finally the Kung Fu Panda DVDs would go to the kids in the family.
The sharing of the prize that I described is probably not the most altruistic, as I just want to share the joy with my loved ones, so it would be perfectly understandable if you would prefer to award someone who would be willing to donate the prize to some charity or institution in need. In any case, let me say thanks for the chance to enter this contest,

Throughout my childhood and high school, I spent numerous Fridays in downtown Sacramento, CA, volunteering at a soup kitchen and homeless shelter called Loaves & Fishes. Since Loaves & Fishes is a soup kitchen without much need for computers, I’d like to donate part of the prize to an offshoot of Loaves & Fishes, the WIND Center and Education Program. According to http://www.windyouth.org, WIND’s “programs are structured to move the youth out of the homeless cycle.” Though I haven’t actually been to WIND, I do believe in Loaves & Fishes as a charity and I know that whatever they are involved in will be very helpful to at-risk teens in Sacramento.
I’ll be keeping the MediaSmart Connect, the HDX 18, the Mini 1000, Windows XP for both computers, the printer and the photo value pak, and I’ll be donating the rest to WIND, as well as my current laptop.

I work for the a non-profit organization funded by grants and contracts with the U.S. Government. One of the grants we have serves approximately 10 non-profits in northeastern Oklahoma. We help these non-profits improve their capacity, allowing them to better themselves and better serve youth. Most of these non-profits are on tight budgets and do not have a way to replace rather old and outdated equipment. Some of these organizations have received new equipment from the grant, but there are a couple non-profits who have not.
One of the organizations that comes to mind is using a rather outdated laptop for organization business and it would be nice to give their Excutive Director something newer and with a bigger hard drive so she can do her job more effectively. Another laptop would be given to our grant writer, who uses her own laptop and has never asked for a company supplied computer. Hers is also rather outdated and in dire need of replacement, but she does not have the personal funds nor does our organization have the extra grant money to replace it. I would also use the desktops to replace a couple of computers in the office since some other staff has rather outdated equipment with no extra grant funds to replace them.
I would not keep any of these computers, but would put them toward programs and organizations who truly need them. The only thing I would keep would be the media smart connect, and that is because I don’t know of anyone who would know what to do with it.

I won't lie, I would keep part of this prize package for myself. I would keep one of the laptops because I don't have one. I'm not sure which one because they're both cool. I would also keep the MediaSmart Connect because I so want to play digital content on my TV.
As for the rest, I could give part of it to family but they all pretty much have computers. I'm not really involved with any local organizations right now so I don't know which would be in need. What I have decided to do is to give it as a gift to the Angel Tree. I don't know if they do this where you live but around here they have angel trees. The trees are placed at local businesses and have tags with wishes from children in needy families. They mostly include clothes and toys but I would drop one of the laptops on some lucky kid... anonymously. Imagine the surprise when they find this awesome gift under the tree! I may even do it twice and donate the TouchSmart and the printer to another family.

If I won these fabulous prizes, I am going to share it with that local Institution and some local Schools and Computer Training Center in Kashmir. As you know in 2005 a horrible earthquake hit Pakistan and almost all the schools in Kashmir region, were vanished in the blink of an eye. I will only keep a laptop from it and the rest will be donated to different schools in Kashmir. It will be a really good thing for me and them to experience working on some good computers.

• TouchSmart -This will go out to my school which also is working as a Non-Profit Organization in helping and guiding mentally & Physically disabled children. This i feel wouldbe a great way to unleash their mental skills & keep abreast with the rising demands for computer proficiency. I would love to keep this wonder but thinking about those tiny tots. i convinced myself i'll get one for myself later when i can afford it.
• HDX NOtebook- This is for me and my family. Our current PC is a P4 running windows XP and 256 MB ram.
• HP MediaSmart Connect. this on will also go out to me coz i couldnt afford a DVD player for my house..
• HP Pavilion Entertainment Notebook - This will go out to My gadget-frenzy uncle who just broke his beloved laptop. And cannot bear the repairing costs. (He was instrumental in providing me good education)
• HP Mini 1000 (with XP) - IM gonna donate this to This personally to some worthy soul who i think will make use of it or a descent legitimate charity foundation as and when i research a little bit and find one.
• HP (printer) -This one will be with me coz currently my printer is a horrible squeaky deskjet 695 which is about 6-7 years old!
No plans with the software right now but will go out, when the right time comes, to whoever needs it the most.

I would donate two computers to my husband's 5th grade classroom. He is working on his masters in “Learning and Technology” to utilize technology in his teaching. The problem? His school can’t afford the equipment he needs to implement what he is learning. He has a lot of cool ideas for using computers in teaching, & the kids would love it.
I would give one computer to my brother, who has had an unbelievable string of bad luck. Most recently, two of his three kids came down with the same disease he has. His insurance sucks, and he is looking into internet-business opportunities, for some extra income.
I would keep one computer and the printer for myself. I have been stressed about the inevitable approaching death of my computer, and how my little home business will afford a new one.

Hey, my name is Frode, and I'm a 17 year old student. Christmas is coming up, and the wish lists has been made in my family. This year I would like to get the all some good gifts. I don't currently work, since theres enough to do at school, so my christmas budget is enough to a DVD to my brother, sister, mom and dad. If I win this contest, I would like to get the HDX laptop for myself, so i got a computer to game on, but it's still portable so I can take it with me to my friends. But though I want a new computer, I feel that my mother needs one more. She's about 50 now and isn't the quickest learner. I'm trying to learn her how to use a computer to order, write emails, watch movies/listen to music and such, but it's going slowly. I feel that if she could get a Touch-based computer it may be easier to learn, since then she'll be more "connected" with what she's doing on the screen. She currently has an old setup of spare parts from my dads home office. That's the computer I mostly use too. The HP Mini would be great for me I feel. Since I'm the one entering, I would wish to win this netbook to use at school because it doesn't take much space or add weight to my backpack. Then there's my dad who's always said that he would like to learn how to edit the homevideos from my childhood, where the VideoStudio comes handy. And my sister just started working with some management(ordering, doing the budget) in a small store, so I know she really would love a laptop(which could be the hp pavilion) and office to be able to do this on the train home from work, so she could leave earlier. Then I guess my brother could get the printer and photo value pack, since his old multifuncitonal has started to make some noises he said. And the DVD to my new adoptive first cousin who's 4 year old and from Colombia. The BluRay I guess I would want to keep for myself to see how blu-ray works with the new computer, hehe.

Well thanks to everyone who is involved in this great giveaway.
I would share everything in the prize except for probably the desktop. There are many many deserving people that would benefit from these great products. In these times of economic crunch there are families who are living at or below the poverty line. The people don't generally have computers. I would find 4 deserving families in my area who would benefit from a new computer. It would be so wonderful for these people to have these for Christmas. The joy and happiness on there face would make my whole year.

As a disabled person living on a fixed income, being able to afford a new computer is difficult to do. Winning this contest would allow me to replace the several years old computer and printer that I have now. Also the addition of a mini-laptop would allow me to move freely around my house and not be confined to working only at the computer desk. I would give one of the computers to my niece. A new computer along with Microsoft Office for her to use in her schoolwork would be a great benefit to her. The second computer would go to a good neighbor, who is also living on a fixed income and cannot afford a computer. She comes over to use my computer now when she needs to look something up, so it would be a pleasure to be able to give her a computer of her own.

The remainder along with my old PC and Laptop I would donate to groups or individuals that I would ask my son in law to recommend as he is a social worker and would know who would appreciate them the most

I would love the opportunity to share 2 of the computers with the pregnant teen program at the YWCA. Our YWCA is nearly bankrupt and has no money for computers. I would donate one to a family where the two orphaned grandchildren ware being raised by an eighty seven year old grandmother. Last year I took the 10 year old to buy a new winter coat from target. It was the first time she had ever gotten to go to a store and pick out a piece of her own clothing. She makes straight As and is always pleasant. The family has no money for a computer.

I volunteer as the technology committee head for a non-profit parochial school that has a shoestring budget and not many computers and most are outdated.
Virtually everything would go to in classroom items. The DVD's would be used in our Tricky Tray fundraisers. There is nothing I need/would keep for myself as I have a fairly good laptop.

I really need a laptop for my university classes, so I think the hp mini would be useful. The hdx 18 will be given to my cousin who has no computer. The rest of the package I’m going to give it away. My mom is a primary school director and I want to give the rest of the huge package to this school to help children learn, using new shiny computers.

If I were to win I'd use the TouchSmart to replace my TV and keep the HP Mini for travel. I'd give the printer to my grandmother so she can print things out on her own without having to worry about asking others. Also, I'd give the HP HDX 18 to my brother and the remaining notebook to my girlfriend's sister for use at college.

I would give the:
HP HDX 18 series Premium Notebook PC
HP Photosmart C6380 Wireless AIO multifunction
To my mother. She is very low income and i could use a computer to check her account online and to introduce her into the online world. Theres no way she would ever be able to afford a PC without it being a gift. And with todays economy its too hard for myself to make that happen out of my own pocket.
And i already have a good printer at home so i would for sure give her the printer as well.

I'm from Canada, Quebec and I'd like to offer the Blue-ray movie to my library. I'm living in a small town and let's just say that it doesn't have big $ to spent on things like blue-ray movies or in fact, any movies. I would also like to give a notebook to the library, so that kids would be allowed to use it for projects. I'd also give a laptop to one of the retirement houses. I think that old people benefits much from being in contact with computers. The computer could help them interact with each other and permit them to follow up with the world at there pace and in security. I would give them the printer as well, allowing them to print picture of the kids and family. I would probably give the softwares to cousins as a Xmas gift. There’re all teenagers and going to school. That would be helpful. I would also like to give a laptop to my brother, who might be ask to travel a lot if he's accepted in the RCMP. I don't even know yet if he'll go in Ontario for his study or even further, but with a laptop he should be able to contact us. I'd also like to use a laptop at school for taking notes, but a touch screen is not bad as a personal computer, paired with the mediaSmart, I would have a nice entertainment system at home to relax after a day at university.

The most important person from those I would help is my brother, David. For years now he's just used old hand-me-down computers (mostly from me)--he hasn't had a new computer since 2000! He's always helped me so much growing up and especially now that I'm in college. I just want to give him the most excellent gifts I can (Touchsmart, Pavillion laptop) so that he can finally have the good things he deserves.

If I were to win this prize package I would share it with my Mom. My Mom is 63 years old and has been through a tough year she had heart surgery then one month later that she found out she has cancer. She didn’t hesitate about chemotherapy and started as soon as she could. Right after she started her treatments her sister called and gave her bad news that she was diagnosis with cancer too. They live about six hours away and neither of them can travel at this time. My Mom’s sister has a computer but my Mom can’t afford one being on a fixed income. It would be so wonderful and very beneficial to my Mom and her sister if they could commutate through the internet.

1. Me, I need a laptop to take note in class.
2. Boarding host, he definitely need a computer, the other day I asked him to help me write an email, he wrote on a paper, and named it "Email". Then he ask me can I fax it or not...
3. Rhonda, a 40+ years old lady who is self-studying language. She bought an expensive software to learn Spanish. you know what? Her computer cannot run it. I guess it's Win 98 or 2000.
4. Jack, a 3 year old boy. He really want to learn Spanish. I don't know what's wrong with him...you know all the people try to learn English. And he is an American boy...
That's it. Hope I could win.
Thank you.

I would also like to give one to my son's school. The computers the kids are using in the classroom right now could really use updating. I think all the classes could benefit from it. I would also give them a copy of Kung Fu Panda of course!!!

I'd give the more powerful laptop to my sister's boyfriend - who is struggling to play WoW with his almost dead PC (with a French copy of Windows XP!). Although the TouchSmart is very tempting for myself, I think this would be the perfect machine to give to my mum, my parents have an old dinky P4 laptop that barely works and they barely know how to use it and have refused a more powerful desktop system, as they say it wouldn't fit in. The TouchSmart would be great here, it might even make it into their kitchen!

Geekstogo,
I would like to start of by saying thank you for this amazing contest. My name is Cristian Ballesteros and I live in Bogota, Colombia. If I win this grand giveaway I think I will put it to best use because not only will I use it but hundreds if not thousands of people will use the hardware as well. I am a 20 year old College student who is struggling, along with my class mates to finish our school work and assignments. At our College we have a “Compu Center” which in reality is a computer lab that is based of 15 donated computers to be used for school work for the College students. You may say well 15 computers is a lot. Not really when you consider the number of students whom attend College to be able to live a better life.
If I win this contest I will donate everything but the HP Mini (I will keep for myself) to our Compu Center at college. The donated hardware will be used by hundreds of College students and we will ALL be grateful for your geneirosity. If I win I will also contact local news channels to record and evidence the donation and to give thanks to you and HP.
Thank you very much for your time.
God Bless.

First up, thanks for your work and for having this contest.
To be perfectly honest, the HP TouchSmart and the Mini 1000 look absolutely fascinating to me in terms of the concept behind them. I am somewhat of a tech geek (in fact, if you google my name, you'll find that James and the late Marc Orchant from the "On The Run with Tablet PCs" podcast were so nice as to take half an episode to answer a question that I sent in), so I would love to be able to use them in my daily work as an aspiring entrepreneur.
Now to the giving part: I reside in Germany, but since the machines are set up for the US, I would give the laptops, printer, and software to a group of students at my former university who support Habitat for Humanity in Mississippi and travel there once a year to help build new houses (http://www.mad-ev.org/) . I know that there are a lot of young people in these communities, so a school there could probably put the gear to good use.

The powerful HDX, the Media Connect, and the printer would complement my needs. The TouchSmart would be perfect for my Dad a senior citizen who plays games, organizes photos, and listens to music. My girlfriend's young daughter writes stories. She spends time weekly with each parent, the portable Mini is perfect for her. The Pavilion would find a nice home with an elderly couple, currently using Windows Millennium, who often call me for tech support.

One notebook to my girlfriend, as she is becoming a teacher and will need it to prepare her lessons, and organize her teste and stuff;
One notebook to my church, in which I'm a teenager teacher. We need something to project the slides on the wall, and organize our meetings and schedules to the growing of the class.
The printer and photo/pack I would like to give to my mother-in-law, since she's a photographer, and would be really nice to her if she could print her job at home.
The movies I would like to give to my cousins, one of which has toxoplasmosis, so he likes to watch colored TV shows very closely.
The media receiver I would like to donate to the victims of a flood in my country, in the southern states (http://edition.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/americas/12/02/brazil.floods/index.html).
The other notebook and computer I would like to have to myself, since I'm coursing Computer Engineering and don't even have a computer that meets the minimum system requirements for programming and simulating.

If I win I would spread the love to my friends and family as follows. My fiancée and I would give the Pavillion dv4 notebook to our good friend who’s been looking for something more environmentally friendly than his current big old desktop. My Dad desperately needs a new printer so he’d get the Photosmart and my brother could really use the Mini 1000 because he’s a teacher and his old laptop is too big to use in class. Kung Fu Panda would be great for family movie nights and you can never have enough photo printer ink. The TouchSmart we'd keep in our bedroom and use it as our TV. Being recent grads we have virtually no money so winning such a prize pack would be amazing! We’d also keep the MediaSmart Connect and add it to the home network for access our media from the living room. Finally, the HDX and MS Office would go to my fiancée since she’s still using Office 2000 and would appreciate and upgrade.

My idea of winning this competition is to replace my desktop computer with a good notebook, because now It is a little slow in performance and I can not buy another at this time. I have 2 godchildren (7 and 8 years old), which I think help by offering a notebook for each, which will help them with their education and their approach to computing. Of the prizes really interests me only HP HDX Series 18, the other prizes are given to boys and girls so they use it in their technology education
Usually they (children) do not have any contact with the technology inside or outside your home.

I would share at least one of the computers with a local group of family doctors that I know. There are several in the group here in mid-Michigan that I am talking about and I know they could use it. As you know, Michigan is just about as hard-hit as anyone in this country, and with people here losing insurance at an astronomical rate these guys provide a lot of their services for free or at a discounted rate to a lot of people. These people in this community (and this county as they cover several hospitals) rely on them and I know this would help in terms of keeping track of patient data and would provide for a convenient and paperless way to provide the healthcare that these people need.

As a scholar finishing a Master's degree -- one that seeks to understand historical aspects of inter-faith relations -- I know that technology increases the efficiency of research. Mobility is also important to academics who visit archives and libraries regularly. The Mini 1000 will serve well as a basic mobile research platform for both myself and my wife, who also is finishing her Master’s degree. The battery of my current four-year-old laptop will no longer hold a charge, and a replacement is too costly.
The Pavilion dv4 and HDX laptops could be of use to fellow graduate students from my department who do not have personal computers.
As an expecting father far from my and my wife’s family, the HP
TouchSmart, the printer, and associated media components will help
record our first pregnancy and our child’s early years, so our extended families can participate in this exciting time. Photographs and movies are merely substitutes for the presence of family, but the media can help maintain these important connections from across long distances.
Finally, my youngest sibling, a Taekwondo student, would appreciate the Kung Fu Panda DVDs.

Thanks for this wonderful opportunity to participate in the HP Magic Giveaway. Its quite overwhelming when you think about what HP, Microsoft and Gotta Be Mobile are giving away. HP has exemplified something here, the gift of giving, so why not do the same? If I were to win all this hardware, the first place I thought of sharing some of these gifts with is my Church. St. Josephs Roman Catholic Cross Keys has been a significant contributor to this small community in South Manchester. Serving not only the spiritual aspects of its congregation but providing a foundation for families and the youth such as a Basic School constructed in 2005. The church started its first Youth Club program in fall of 1997 and has been consistent ever since by providing opportunities for the Youth through social activities such as sports, summer schooling and trips.
What would I share? One of the laptops (HP Pavilion dv4 series Entertainment Notebook PC) and the HP Photosmart c6380 Wireless Printer printer are part of my sharing the magic idea. A lot of folks are in rough economic times (world-wide)right now. A non-profit organization such as my church does not have the bugdet or resources to invest in state of the art technology, but giving them these hardware gifts would be a significant contribution I believe in helping out the church in whatever way I can technology wise. The rest would be shared among family and friends. I want the TouchSmart, that's specifically why I entered this. This wonderful package is screaming, show the good in you, so why not make the 'smart' choice of sharing the magic too. Thanks!

Thank you for hosting a great contest and a wonderful opportunity to "share the love". Its great that these collective prizes will impact so many lives in a powerful, positive way.
If I was fortunate enough to win, I would love to be able to gift a computer to my daughter who is working diligently in establishing independent functionality as a young, autistic adult. Our large family (includes 5 kids) has very limited financial resources, and having her own computer would be therapeutic and allow her to blog, take online courses, network socially and really take advantage of all the positive attributes that the internet has to offer.
I would also love to gift a needy family through the Endependence Center (http://www.endependence.org/) a wonderful, local organization in my area that has been instrumental in providing transitional services for my daughter and many other families with disabilities. My daughter and I tutor there once a week, and we know first hand that this gift would really change a person's life.
Lastly, I would love to win a laptop for myself (we have one old desktop for our 7 member family) and gift a laptop to a co-worker & close friend who is a struggling, single, young Mom. She and I are both nurses at at a Local hospital here in Virginia. We have promised to see each other through acquiring our degrees together (we're enrolled together at Indiana State University's online RN-BSN program) and this would be a blessed and most useful gift.

I would share the prize with Pankow Vocational Tech. It is a school where you can take computer courses (and others) through my old high school (for high school credits and certifications). If I won, I would go to the school and conduct a short survey. Whoever has no computer, the worst/oldest computer, or teacher's suggestion to further narrow it if needed, would be the winners of the prizes. I had an old computer through middle school and through into college (200mhz pentium I...), yet I am a computer science major. So I know how tough it can be when you want to pursue a future in computers, but just don't have the money to get one. I would love to help them, and I know for a fact that they would make great use of the prizes. You can't really do much without your own computer as a software dev student. You can't even use library computers because you would have to install _at least_ your compiler (much less essentials like an IDE), which isn't allowed, or possibly not even possible. I would keep one laptop for myself for college, and maybe give the mini to my mother (since it is more of a netbook than a full pc -- if I'm not mistaken).

Obviously that computer is so slow it's only purpose is to gather dust. So I'd give her the touchscreen desktop. Friend was interested in the printer...and my sister was asking me to buy her a laptop, so there goes the other laptop. Don't need the Office Suite, cause I already have it, so that can get installed on all their computers...my sis' 5 year old can get the Kung-Fu Panda movie...dunno about what to do with the media center though. I am hoping to win this contest so that I can donate the laptops to our neighborhood school's robotics club. They are a bunch of 2nd graders starting out using Lego Mindstorms. However, you need computers to program them, and the only computer they have is the instructor's personal laptop that he brings in. It takes quite a long time to get everything done, and 2nd graders aren't known for their patience having to wait their turn to use the computer. Having a few more would certainly make a huge improvement in their lives. And the instructor wouldn't have to risk his personal computer:)

Computer/printer: to my mom. She's the owner of a (very) small business, and its really struggling right now. Having the up-to-date technology would really make a world of difference in how she communicates with her customers and manage her inventory (books).

I am already so much luckier than many people I know, so I want to share this with others! I have cousins who have never owned a computer before, so some of the computers will go out to them. Also, I will donate the printer and the Touchsmart to my church. Even though it's small, it has helped many families and touched all of our lives, but we don't have much money and we lack equipment. I want this package to help as many people as possible, and touch their lives too.

I have an HP Laptop dv6000 series purchased in 2005. Although this machine is decent, it cannot keep up with my demanding requirements. Unfortunately being a student, I cannot afford to purchase a newer one.
If I do win the prize, I will firstly sell of this machine and donate the proceeds to the valiant Police force who fought with vigor during the recent Terror attacks that occurred in Mumbai. It was a very disheartening experience and I want to do as much as I can for them. I will personally keep the HDX machine. The HP dv4 machine I will gift to my elder brother on Christmas, as he is using a machine that he was gifted in 2001! It is really really old and I would love to surprise my elder brother by gifting him a spanking new machine!! It would be simply amazing to surprise him as his little bro would really be making his day! The HP Touchsmart PC, I will gift to my darling mother. She is currently learning how to operate a PC on our old Desktop PC which is a Pentium 2(64 MB RAM) machine and is just not good enough by today’s standards. I will donate that old machine to a school where I teach underprivileged kids as a part of my Sharing Care club (http://www.sharingcare.org/). The HP Mini, I will gift to my retired dad. He will be simply delighted to have a small lightweight machine to check his emails and to read the online articles that he loves to read. It would be perfect for him! This gift would all in all, make Christmas a whole lot brighter for my entire family!
Regards & Thanks for this great opportunity!

Hello my name is Arnold, I’m from Dominica it's a small Caribbean island located in the Caribbean Sea. If I was to win I would surely put such prizes to great use, firstly I would give away the HP TouchSmart PC to our local Alpha Center a school for mentally challenged children, I'm sure they would put the TouchSmart to good use by using it in the learning process there. Secondly I would also give away the HP Pavilion to our local library a new computer is of great need since the computers they have now are outdated and slow. Thirdly I would also give away the HP Mini to a local Grammar School new computers are always needed since they are the largest secondary school on the island. I would also give away the HP Photosmart printer and HP 564 Photo Value Pak to the main hospital located on the island, also the DVD of Kung Fu Panda is sure to bring excitement to the children in the hospital. Also for the software that comes along I would also give it away to the other schools on the island in an attempt to help them with the technology fields in each school. I would like the HP HDX Notebook PC it will sure come in need for me as I am continuing my education. The HP MediaSmart Connect is wonderful but on the island we do not have any form of HD devices so I am sure it would greatly benefit someone on your site who is willing to accept it.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

There are two local families who had recent house fires: one lost everything and has 6 home schooled kids; the other is a struggling single mom with MS. I would love to be able to give each of them a new laptop to help replace a small part of what they've lost. I'd like to give a laptop to my college-bound son as well. I would like to donate the blue ray player, movies and the media smart connect one or more local charitable organizations, though I'd have to research their needs first. The only items I'd like to keep for myself are the desktop computer, since my old one is slowly dying, the printer and perhaps some of the software.

I would give part of the prize to the local Interfaith Caregivers organization in my hometown who has been helping my family as my mother receives treatment for cancer. Both my brother, sister, and I are in need of laptops. My sister is studying Chinese and wants to work with children in China after graduating. She has a learning disability and uses special software on her sluggish Compaq laptop that reads text to her as well as Rosetta stone software. My brother is getting ready to apply to colleges and would benefit greatly from his own laptop. The main family computer is an old beige box that can no longer be upgraded. It is incredibly slow and frustrating to use. I've never owned a laptop myself. As student studying film and a screenwriter, a tiny laptop would allow me to write away from my desk.

I live in Brazil and every Easter and Christmas my family and friends make some donation to Graac, a non-governmental institution that helps children with cancer (www.graacc.org.br). Their non-profit hospital helps approximately 2500 children per month, with quimo sessions, surgeries, transplants and others.
As it could not be different, if I were the winner I would only keep Mini 1000 and HP Pavilion dv4 and share the rest of the products with Graac. I'm sure it would bring lots of joy to those children that face so much suffer along the year. The price of these products in Brazil is very high due to our taxes and maybe it could be their only opportunity to have contact with these top of line products.

I would give my mother and stepfather in Louisiana one of the new computers because theirs crashed and my stepdad was recently laid off from his job. I would give another one of the computers to my dad and stepmom here in Georgia because the computer they have now was bought at a refurbishment place for $150. I would give another computer, the printer, and the media connect to my fellow interns at the theater that I work at because we’re all just starting out in our careers and it’d be nice to share that with someone to help them along. I’d give Kung Fu Panda to my little brother and his friend. The only thing I would keep would be one of the the laptops, and the interns and i would share the photo pack so we could print out some headshots.

If I should win:
I will only be keeping the desktop and one of the laptops for my homebased business (my gear is seriously obsolete and needs an upgrade to keep me going).
1 laptop will go to an unemployed friend.
The Kung Fu Panda DVD's will be going to a friend of mine that is depressed and needs cheering.
The final laptop will be going to someone I know that works with special needs children to use in her work--she works in tutoring children with autism, and children who are deaf.
And the printer will be donated to The Fletcher Academy (http://thefletcheracademy.com) which is a school specifically targeted to help children with Autism and other special needs that cannot be met by public schools. The school can decide if it wants to keep the computer for use or to have as a raffle prize so that it can raise money for the school.

Should I be fortunate to win this terrific prize I would give one notebook to a nurse/caregiver at the Eastern Star Nursing home in Boone, Iowa. He has cared for my mother so unselfishly for 17 years including volunteering to do things for her on his day off. Knowing him as I do, he would share his laptop with the residents as he does his rounds spreading joy while he works.
I would also give the entertainment notebook and media receiver to the nursing home for their use in creating a theater room.
The HP TouchSmart desktop I would keep to replace my aging HP desktop.
This is a wonderful gesture by the Geeks

It is a free organization which helps people recover old photos and tales from our region, to write the history of our local culture and preserve it for the future. The new computers and software would be wonderful for the team. The multifunction printer would help us to scan and reprint old photos. And maybe the Kung Fu panda could be a nice present for a kid contest that we could make.

My plan for this prize package would be to give 2 of the computers to a local Boys and Girls Club. They are a community centre that has a computer room for kids to use but rather old computers. They rely on donations, so this would help out a lot. Actually, the photo kit and printer would be for them as well.
I would be looking to hang on to the Mini 1000 and the larger laptop for me and my family. You know how it is with a family of 5 and 2 computers! :/
Hoping to win! Thanks guys!

For quite a while now I have watched my two dear friends do their best to use their dilapidated computers. Allison's laptop has recently die all together and so she has gone back to using her ten-year-old desktop that barely runs. Shawnda's laptop is still working, but that's relatively speaking; not to mention that the lid won't even stay open on it's own any more--she has to hold it open with one hand and type with the other. What's so hard about this is knowing that these are two of the most deserving people I've ever met. Allison is a spanish teacher who pours herself into her students. She is available to them for encouragement and emotional support 24 hours a day. They all have her email and phone number so that they can text her and they frequently turn to her for advice. Shawnda is a nanny who has devoted her life to nurturing the little ones she takes care of; she even offers free babysitting to the families she no longer works for just so that she can keep in contact with the children she used to take care of. On top of all of this, both of these women take a group of students to the Dominican Republic every January for a missions trip to an orphanage. I know, right? There aren't many people that would make me feel warmer inside to bless with a gift like this. Teachers and nannies aren't exactly the best paid bunch on the planet, so this would be such a wonderful opportunity to really really reward them for actually contributing to this world, instead of just taking from it.
If I win, I plan to give away two of the laptops (I will probably let them each take their pick) as well as the printer; I will probably keep the rest for my family.
I have four kids who need a good computer for school work as well as everything else that kids like to do online. I'm a nurse and we aren't the best paid bunch either! It will really bless my heart to see how excited all of these people that I love so much will be blessed by this. Thanks!

Greetings -
I would give away one of the laptops, likely the Pavilion dv4, to my cousin whose two children are about to start school. They currently do not have a computer and go to the library to send email and such. They would also get the all-in-one printer.
I would keep the Touchsmart and the Mediasmart. My household setup is very Media Center centric and the Mediasmart would work very well in this environment.
Virtually all of the other hardware would go to the local Boy Scout camp - I am heavily involved with the Boy Scouts and their current computer that they do all of their paperwork on is an IBM T20 - and I'm not sure how much life it has left in it.

I would have to keep a notebook for myself as my Sony Vaio is entering its 6th year of usage and barely pulling through.
Other than that, I would send one of the other computers to my uncle overseas in Poland who's been running on an ancient 500 megahertz computer with a heavy desire to purchase a new computer to edit photographs. Money proves to be a problem, I'd love to see him be able to edit and store his excellent photographs on a worthy computer.
My other uncle just had a baby girl and has found himself in a financial crunch with the economy being a construction worker. He's running on at least a 4 year old dell. It'd be great to see him running on a better computer.
I'd want to give the Mini notebook to a friend in college, who's been struggling on a computer that doesn't even have a task bar.
As for the rest of the gear, I'd either donate it away to charity or ask around to see if anyone has a need for something.
Great giveaway! Thanks to everyone who made it possible. Good luck to everyone and I'd like to wish everyone a great upcoming Happy Holidays.

If I were to win the HP Giveaway I would give the mini laptop (depending on when I would receive the item) to a giving tree (the ones at the banks, where you choose a age of a child or teen and donate a item) or to a school. I would also donate the office software to a school and the dvds would also go to the giving trees or toys for tots program.
My mom is taking care of my brothers two kids who have had a rough time. They were taken from their mom and dad and then put in foster care and now they are with my mom. She doesnt have a computer nor the resources to buy one. I would like to give them the HP Pavilion dv4 series Entertainment Notebook PC.

What a great way to celebrate the holidays!
If I were to win, I would give the touchsmart and a laptop (with a video camera) to a the Windham Family. Their youngest son, who is 2, spends more than 250 days a year in the hospital. His mom is always with him, but his dad and siblings are at home. He's been in the hospital for most holidays and all of the family's birthdays. If they had these computers they could video chat and at least see one another. I also think the family would like a copy of the DVDs.
I would keep one laptop for my family, and donate the rest of the equipment to Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego. My son has spent too much time there, and we know that the children would be able to use and enjoy this equipment during their hospitalization.

I would like to keep the TouchSmart as I’m in the process of starting my own business, and this would be a very valuable asset to my company. Oh, and I love all touch screen devices!
The HDX I would give to my dad, as he is really in need of a new computer.
The Pavillion would go to my grandparents as they have always wanted a computer. Along with the new computer, I would also teach them how to use it as they have never used a computer in their life.
I would have the Mini 1000 as this would be extremely helpful when I’m out doing business as it’s so tiny and portable!
All the other bits and bobs would be distributed among friends who are in need!

The hdx 18 would go to her sister, and the mininote, if my wife didn't want it would go to her oldest brother. The media server would be for their house, as well as the rest of the package. If I'm meant to win, I would share the prize to my aunt, Josie. For me, she is the epitome of an angel. I even see the late Mother Theresa in her. She has a heart of gold, and lives life serving God and other people. She never got married because she wanted to take care of her mother and aunt until their last breath. Her source of income is making rosaries, and with the little profit she gets, she chooses to share it with others, leaving almost nothing for her. She says its okay because she believes that "God will provide". Which is true. But this time, I want to be her angel. She will surely love HP computers because she'll be able to communicate with her loved ones abroad through email. This will also help her expand and promote her business through the internet. And since she's living alone, HP products will surely entertain her and keep her company. I honestly need just 1 laptop to replace the cranky one I'm using that's why I'd like to give her the rest of the prizes because I'm sure that she'll share them to those in need. Yup, just like what she always does. I'll just force her to keep one for herself.

Hats Off To HP...
Oh, the places you'll go,
HP computers, I know,
If I get my way,
With my wish today!
I wish on a star,
That the computers go far,
To reach kids and their kin
From Ohio to Beijing!
Oh, how could that be?
With computers of three!!
And a laptop for me,
Just listen, you'll see...
I know a place,
That's filled with space,
To take care of families,
And their kids, with grace.
It's Ronald McDonald House!
In Cleveland, Ohio, yes!
Home for so many
From so many spots
The world over...lots!!
The children are treated
With medical care,
And families are invited
To make a home here.
Please consider the reaches
Of computers, like these,
To promote peace and friendship
And kinship, with ease.

I would only keep one of the laptops and the rest would go to an organization here in La Paz, Bolivia called Para los Niños, which gives shelter to homeless kids. The would really need the computers as it would be way easier for them to update their website, which hasn't been updated since last year, because they don't have personal access to a computer, they have someone who volunteered to pay for their internet. But a computer would be awesome for them too.

Wow that is quite the X-mas present to receive. If I were to receive this gift, I would probably give most of the stuff away to family and organizations. I would most likely keep the laptops but the Touch-Smart and other items would be given as gifts. I would most likely send the TouchSmart to my aunt who lives in Puerto Rico and is currently studying in college, and using an old Win Me machine. An HP for her would be an amazing machine and would help her greatly with her studies. The movies and printers would be given to my Mom's workplace (School). My mom is a teacher and the movies and printer being offered would be a great enhancement for her teaching experience. I would be very grateful if I won this prize and would share my "wealth" with the World. Merry Christmas GeeksToG0!

The HDX will be a wonderful gift for myself as I return to school in January. The other prizes will go to friends and family members, most notably my aunt and uncle who will be getting the desktop to replace their own aging computer, my cousin who's starting a new self business venture, and my sister so she can finally keep in touch all the way in MS
. My nephew would also enjoy the DVD.
Happy holidays everyone.

Hi my name is Alvaro Bonilla, I´m from El Salvador, but right now I´m on vacatios at Indiana. If I win this contest I would take all to El Salvador, and I will keep for me the HP HDX 18t Premium series, beause I´m in my last year on college so that will be a very helpful to me. Now to help others the rest of the package I´ll give it to the university where I go, that is Don Bosco University, is one of the best of my country, but as you know that is a third world country, so we have only the basic things, because over there we don´t see this wonderful technology, because is too expensive, many of the people make $200.00 a month so if very difficult buy something like this. One of our rooms that are dedicated to asignatures that need to use a computer, use very old computer, we are talking that are IBM and most of all are Pentium II, pretty old, and I know that this package isn´t enough for all the students but I know that will be something that they can use for asigments that needs a powerful computer or notebook, and will be somenthing that will give them a lot of enthusiam by see this technology that is way far from our pockets to buy. But I´ll put one condition to them, that everything will be only use by the students, or to teach, because I don´t want that any staff of the university will take it for them, and I know that all this equipment will serve to them a lot, and all those thing will be a useful tool, and will do amazing things for knowledge, So help me, to help them!

I'd personally share with my family mostly. I've got a tablet PC already, so all of the laptops would go to my family (sister who is a freshman in college, brother is a senior in college and his laptop is hanging on for dear life).
The Touchsmart would go in my kitchen though.

So for starters I am going to tell you what I would keep - I would take the mini. I've always wanted to have a small laptop in my kitchen for recipes etc. I would give my husband the desktop - I know that's not a far reaching give, but he gave up a promising career in photography to support our family (good photographers don't always make good money) and he needs a good computer so he can pretend he's still a photographer. As for the other two laptops, I think I would go to an unemployment office or a place giving out free Christmas dinners and share the love. Or maybe I'd donate it to someone who is making the dinner for those in need.

I would like to give the TouchSmart to my mom because she is a hard worker in the IT field. She spent most her life crouching under tables, connecting cables, and fixing computers. All she has at home is a used dell and her a laptop she borrowed from work. I think she deserves a better Christmas this year and I would love to see her face when she receives something as big as this. She was the one who got me into technology and I want to thank her and show how much I love her. I am a first year college student and dirt poor. What I have right now is full blown desktop that I built myself, though it is a great gaming machine, it isn't too portable. Having something like the HDX 18 would be nice to carry around and work where ever I want on campus. And during breaks, instead of lugging my heavy computer back I can just take the laptop with me. I can't forget my little brother in this, I love him dearly. When I come home on the weekends, the first person I want to catch up with is my bro. He is 1 year from graduating high school and needs a laptop for college as well, I think the PV4 would fit his needs. Lastly my father deserves something in this. Though he doesn't pay child support or see me a lot, I don't want to forget the person who brought my brother and I into this world. Last weekend he called me on my cell saying that his computer was acting up. I...being the techie of the family told him to drop it off to me so I could clean it up for him, that's what a son is for right? Well what could be better timing, since my father uses the computer just for surfing and checking mail, the Mini 1000 would do him good. The rest of the gifts like the Media Connect and the Kungfu Panda Bluray would work nicely with our 52" DLP HDTV a present from Dad. He gets me things like a HDTV and doesn't pay child support? I don't get it. But overall winning something like this would be one of the best days of my life, seeing the faces of my family light up this holiday season. What's not to like? That's why I am entering in the HP Share the Magic Giveaway. Thanks and happy holidays!

I am a thirteen year old teenager who lives in Pennsylvania. There is a local community center in my area. Three years ago a generous donor gave them a room of computers which the community was overjoyed at having. Later that year the building burned down and all the computers were lost. They are hoping to rebuild a computer, but with the failing economy, the center had to devote their time and money to supplying people in need with food and a place to stay. I would like to give this center the two of the computers, the mediasmart connect, as well as all the accessories, software, and DVD's to help them start rebuilding they're computer center.

I would use one laptop to replace my patched together machine that I use for blogging at home, give one to my wife, and share one with my fire dept. (That I volunteer for and am webmaster for.)
At least one piece I would also love to give away as a contest on my own blog!

One of my brothers is in his last year of college and needs it for the working world. The other brother is starting graphics design course next year in college and needs to buy a laptop for the course so this will be great for him.
The rest of the stuff, including the mini will all be given away. I will give the DVD, corel, live, office, photosmart, photopack, etc. all away to a charity in my city to make a childs wish come true. The stuff I give get sent to children with disabilities/sick and I feel that will make them very happy

I would share the computers with my mother. She is starting up a new English as a Second Language business and has been experiencing financial difficulties, hindering her from full progression. Having new computers would really help jump-start her business, and she wouldn’t have to worry about the expense of buying her own. I’m currently a freshman in college, and I hate having to know that she wouldn’t have so many money issues if she weren’t footing my tuition bill. She, in turn, would probably give one of the other laptops to one of her students.

I would share this with my Mom, Step Dad both of them moved with me to the United States not long ago. We moved from Cuba and they use computer for their work however they have no means to acquired them since their income is to low. Last year I bought a IBM X61 Tablet pc and passed my retired X41 Tablet to them, but they both need a computer so you see now the problem.
Some information about me, I'm a student at Georgia Institute of Technology I came to US in 2001 (from Cuba) and started college right away. I started in Miami Dade College and look how far I've got. However I want to say that I couldn't been here without the support of my family (the one here and in Cuba) and thats is why I would want to give back to them.
The othe two persons I would like to share this prize with is my Dad and Sister both of which live still in Cuba. I'm still in the process of waiting for my papers to travel and spend Christmas with them (in cuba). So I would definitely share some of my prizes with them.
Thanks to you, HP and Microsoft there is always hope

Here's the breakdown of how I'd divvy up the stuff:
HP TouchSmart IQ816 AIO Desktop PC: This would go to my little brother who is away at college right now studying Graphic Design.
HP HDX 18 series Premium Notebook PC: This I would keep to take with me when I deploy, so I could keep in touch with my family back here.
HP Pavilion dv4 series Entertainment Notebook PC: This one would go to my wife so she can take it to school with her.
HP Mini 1000: My dad is a network tech and hates lugging his huge school-district-bought-laptop around. This one would ease the strain on his back for sure.
HP Photosmart C6380 Wireless AIO multifunction: Todd could use this for all his graphic design projects. His printer is super old.
The rest I'd donate to a local school in need.
And that's how I'd share in the holiday spirit.
Happy Chrismachauniquanzica!

My family has recently fallen into financial hardship making Christmas difficult. With everything in this contest I would have more than enough to share with all of these important people. Lindsey, my sister, would get a laptop, something she has wanted for a while now. Julie, my girlfriend who loves pictures, would get all of the photography items. My mom and dad would get a computer to replace the last one I gave them; it died. And finally, I would share one of the other computers with my brother, Justin, so that he and his son could finally have one. I think that would be a pretty sweet Christmas.

I would share the following parts of the prize with a local dog rescue group we support.
HP HDX 18 series Premium Notebook PC
HP Mini 1000
HP Photosmart C6380 Wireless AIO multifunction
HP 564 Photo Value Pak
Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate and Home Premium preinstalled
Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student Edition
Microsoft Windows Live
Corel VideoStudio X2
Simply put, this group was born of desperation to help shelter dogs be adopted. They focus their mission on saving these pups with treatable medical conditions, and overlooked or shy dogs not selected by anyone else. Millions of dogs are euthanized every year and even shelters with a “no-kill” policy still have to euthanize helpless dogs.
These dogs were left for dead, work out mother dogs saved by shelters only to feed their puppies, burned dogs, older dogs, dogs at the verge of death, dogs for whom people had “no more time.”
My family has rescued three of these miracle dogs and we wish that we could do more. The Rescue has no financial safety net of funding and exists solely through the generosity of others. Times are tough right now and not many people are donating, including my family, not because they do not want to, but because they cannot. As the year draws to a close, their donations are down to levels that will not carry them forward without additional support.
This prize would help the Rescue continue their work, as the volunteer run group is currently using outdated equipment to support their wonderful cause.

What I would keep? The Touchscreen PC, the high end laptop and the extender. That’s ALL.
I would be giving away the rest and more! That’s right, my current computer desktop (AMD Athlon64 4000+, 2GB RAM, Windows Vista Ultimate) would be donated to my totally deserving friend William. William suffered from meningitis when he was 15, and that caused some severe brain damage. Now, Will is about the nicest person I’ve EVER known. He gives freely and asks for nothing in return. He however, badly needs a computer upgrade. He has expressed interest in my desktop computer many times, so I plan on giving it to him, along with the 19″ dual widescreen monitors I have. My laptop, a Hewlett Packard dv9000t (core2duo t7200, 2GB RAM, 17″ screen) will be donated along with the aforementioned contest materials to three needy families. These needy families will be determined by the local Salvation Army, United Way and my church (Grace Episcopal). I figured this was about as fair a way possible to give things away, because they really KNOW who needs. I would love to be there when they are given away because I would just want to see the looks on those families’ faces.
That’s the MAGIC of Christmas I tell you!

Surprisingly enough, I would probably give away almost all of this stuff.
The desktop would go to my mother. She needs a new one (her current one is from the 90's) and my sister could use it for the papers she's going to have to write in school soon.
The premium Notebook would go to my friend since his dad recently got ripped off on a laptop.
The entertainment notebook could go to someone else I know, or I could donate it.
I would either keep or donate the Mini. Can't really decide.
I have no idea what I'd do with the software. Probably install it on the desktop so my sister can get her work done.
I don't really know what I'd do with the rest of it either, except for Kung Fu Panda. I would definitely keep the DVD of that because I love the movie.

When I was young, I created a school newsletter for my class. I continued this newsletter for THREE years. You might think it is an easy feat, but it was not so. There was homework to worry about, teachers sometimes didn't like what I printed, and I had to worry about other people's submittions. It would have been easy for me had I just written it all myself, but I was insistent on letting other people try, and therefore my "editors" took years to type what seemed to be a short story.
You might wonder where this all came from; where the cost of the paper, where the cost of the ink came from. And where the printer came from. The answer? I paid for it. All $3000 of it. In 2004 I won a grant from Texas of $500 dollars, and a year later I tried a fund-raising campaign. I got $15 dollars from that.
So that left $2485. Of ink. Of paper. and of printing costs. I couldn't afford going out to copy my newsletter. I was doing it as a class service. So instead, I used a $20 dollar printer that was three years old. It was slow, true, but it was the cheapest.
This printer printed, when I finally closed my newsletter after three years, over 3000 sheets of paper. Filled to color with Photoshoppings, pictures, photographs, and other things I had done. When somebody was kind enough to submit an article, I responded by spending hours in photo-editing software (keep in mind I was 10 at the time), going through all this.
A new printer would be cool. We got a new one a few months ago, but it's still a small, itsy bitsy printer. Maybe a page a minute? Who knows. The old printer was pretty much dying on us. Printing out all those newsletters, which ended up being given out to classmates for free.
Which speaking of classmates, one of them has been affected by the economy. These days, everyone knows how tight the economy is. One of my friends has been so constrained. He used to love gaming. But harsh times have driven him tightly.
My answer to this is a nice Christmas present to him. The other day I was asking him that if he could get a free computer, what he would want. He responded by saying he would like something to have fun on, to fill his life with some joy. I think the dv4 is perfect for him. It's small, it's light, and it is portable.
I also plan on giving away the Panda disks to someone for a great present. Everyone needs some butt-kicking. I also might give away the Mini to someone I haven't decided yet. Maybe I will give it to my church. Maybe I will give it away to someone in need.
Either way, I will be giving away something at least. Maybe I won't give away the Mini at all, if no one is nice enough. But everyone needs some light in their lives. I hope I will be the light bulb for my friend.

I would keep the HDX, and would utilize it mostly for multimedia and design work.
The rest of the items would be divided up on an as needed basis. As there is soo much in this package, I cannot think of 6 or 7 different parties that I would like to give to. There are two I have in mind though. There is a student competition organization at school that I am associated with, and people are always in need of a computer, so I figure one or maybe two of the three laptops would go to them. The other I'm thinking I would give to my church to let them decide who to give it to. They usually have a better handle on who is in need than I do, and I think they would do a good job in choosing. Finally I would like to give the blu ray dvd to an underprivileged childrens home, to give them something to enjoy over the holiday season... and heck if they dont have a blu ray player, i may need to throw that in as well.

The touchscreen desktop will be donated to a local organization that helps children with physical disabilities - because I think that a touch screen computer will be able to improve their chances in the modern world - by enabling them access to a technology they couldn't access otherwise. The same organization will get the Kung-Fu Panda DVDs.

Our good friend is the Executive Director of BuildingSTEPSs, and Baltimore-based non-profit that focuses on preparing high-risk, minority high-school students that have demonstrated an aptitude in the sciences and math to go to college. In most every case these kids are the first in their family to ever graduate high school, let alone go on to college. Currently they focus on approximately 60 kids from 6 schools each year. My wife has volunteered with them the past few years to teach the kids how to write a college essay, then spends time with each one to help them edit their essay and prepare their college application. It's a bare-bones operation that struggles for funding each year and relies on donations for equipment and other supplies. At least one of the laptops, the printer, and the software will help many kids not only immediately, but will continue to pay dividents throughout their lifetime after they receive their college degree.

I have no intention of keeping any of the gear. My sole purpose in entering this sweepstakes is to provide three underprivileged children with a new laptop for Christmas (or thereabouts). One of the children I have in mind is named Anthony. Anthony is eight-years-old and lives with his grandmother in Stuart, Florida. His parents are who knows where. His grandmother works three jobs and Anthony spends the majority of his time alone. Anthony is a good kid and I believe this computer will be a way for him to free his mind and perhaps discover the outside world and something about himself. As naïve as it sounds I believe in the power of technology to transform lives. Perhaps receiving this gift will be a life-changing event for him and lead to a better life. I remain hopeful for all of us.

I would keep one of the notebooks, and possibly the netbook. Touchsmart i would give to my father, who is still using an ancient 600Mhz celeron(from the P3 era) with 128mb ram. Other notebook i would give to a friend of mine who is very underprivileged and them getting a laptop would be the thrill of a lifetime for them. The printer i would probably keep because i have no printer right now, old one decided it would die on me. The kung fu panda DVD i would give to one of my little brothers friend(7 yrs old) who's also doing pretty tough in these economic conditions and then keep the blu ray for my little brothers(6 and 7yrs old) to watch.

I would give the complete package to my parents albeit one laptop.
My dad have a stroke a short while ago and it's been difficult for him and i think that the HP TouchSmart IQ816 AIO Desktop PC would benefit him alot and help his recovery, he's not very mobile and using a keyboard and mouse is a no-no at the moment so the touch interface would be good for him to use with help from my mother.
My mother and brothers would make use of the rest of the items listed because of my dad being unable to work any more and money being tight they can not afford such luxuries, any money that goes into the house goes towards my dad's recouperation.

As a high school student, I know how difficult work can be. I would keep one computer for me, and one laptop for my brother so we can finally stop fighting over our one computer when we both need it for homework. I'm sure that a laptop will help my brother and I now (as we're in high school), and well into our college years; so its a good investment.
One of my friends, is a junior with me, and he doesn't have a computer. Its difficult for me to fathom how he could have possibly survived the past 2 years in high school without a computer. There are so many papers, projects, presentations, and research that a student must do, and he always has to stay hours after school, or come early in the morning. I'd really like for him to finally be able to look at school with ease, and not a burdensome place.
P.S. I'd also give Kung Fu Panda to my four little cousins because I know they'd just jump for joy if they saw it.

Another laptop and the multifunction would be for me. And right now I really don't know what would I do with the other things.

I would be sharing my prize pool with my parents and my In-laws. After all the work they both have done for their respective churches, retirement communities and , most importantly, their families, the least I could do is to tech them up so they can communicate with their distributed kids and grandkids via video and VOIP. Considering that half of the products in the prize pool are yet to be availabel in australia, we would finally have them ahead of the tech curve rather than giving them our old hand-me-up coomputers.

This prize package will be shared with my friends and family. They have all done a lot for me, and I feel it is about time to repay them back.
For one thing, I would like to allow my friend Nic to play around with the HP Touchsmart to check out the new innovative technology (hes a hardware guy).
The laptops offer portable entertainment, which I can share with many others as I travel and watch movies on them. The photo printer will be used to capture and print out vivid memories that we can all see again. On a side note, I can remain connected with devices with these powerful little machines. My friends, like John or Ian, would perhaps love to experience a pleasant viewing experience as I bring a laptop to school or their house. If not, we can do some work together, allowing music from their iPods or other music players to by played on it.
The netbook would be utilized largely for schoolwork (I don't have laptop), and will keep me working, discovering, and learning new stuff since it goes where I would go and should be practically networked, always.
Also, as a final blurb, it is interesting that I finally got my first floor back and my dad is getting an HDTV. With the media-oriented prizes, I would love to invite friends over to my house and have a home theater experience. That would just be awesome

I would give two of the laptops to Visiting Nurses Hospice. They could use these to loan out to patients and family. It would be perfect for patients that are no longer physically able to sit at a computer. This way, they can still keep in touch with friends and family through email, video chat, etc. Also, it would provide a mental break from a very tough situation.

Hi - I was married 30 years, when, on my husband's 50th birthday, I gave him his birthday card, he said, "Thanks - I want a divorce." I had put him through college and worked on and off during the marriage for family vacations, second cars, etc. but had never worked to support myself, and now I was on my own. Then I found “The Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center.” I enrolled in their adult re-entry computer education program and it not only helped me get a job; it got me through one of the most difficult times in my life. I’m still on my own, at 60+ yrs., but I’ve had the same good job for 8 yrs and I've just started blogging. Mary Rigg gave me my opportunities, so I’d like to share this gift with them. If I'm your winner, since my computer is 6 yrs old and reconditioned, I work at home too, and take meeting notes, I’d like the PC, the Mini 1000, and the larger notebook – everything else, I'd share w/Mary Rigg. http://www.maryrigg.org/w/driving.aspx
(p.s. I probably old enough to be your mom, but I check out your site regularly to make sure I at least know the latest computer words. )

What would I do with all that equipment?
My brother is handicapped and does a lot of his communication and art work via computer. I'd love to give him any one of the computers of his choice.
I would donate several systems to a local grade school library that doesn't have a tremendous amount of IT resources available to its students.
"Kung Fu Panda" I would donate to the pediatrics "Child Life" program at my hospital.
And for myself, I would enjoy whatever is left over... If I upgrade to one of the nice computers, I'd donate my present system to the above. I'm anxious to see the multitouch system... Looks cool!
What a great contest and what an overly generous prize. Thanks to HP and all the organizers involved.

Who would I share the prize with:
My Dad, he uses a 5 year old laptop right now that doesn’t even have a wireless card working and has to remote desktop to his work computer to pay his bills and get his work done. With a new laptop he could do this faster and have more time to do other stuff. He’s a small business owner and can’t afford to buy a new laptop. I would give another laptop to a friend of mine who can’t afford a computer. His family opened up a business that didn’t succeed and he can’t afford a laptop for school.

The Touchsmart would go in the living room for the whole family to share, and my wife and 2 children would get a laptop each (I would have to come up with my own competition and rules as to who gets allocated which laptop!)
That leaves me with the MediaSmart Connect to play with.

I would give the HP dv4-1143go to a friend of mine, whos never had much and her desktop is relly old and a wreck. I would give the HP mini to my friend who travels a lot. I sent her off to college with a P3 notebook. My mom would get the Pavilion dv4 Notebook to replace her old Gateway desktop machine and a copy of MS Office. My roommate would get the HP Mini 1000 so he can stop using my computer to check his e-mail. I would keep the TouchSmart PC and the MediaSmart Connect and the last copy of MS Office. I'm a homeschooler and I know how tough it can be making it on one income and purchasing your children's school books. Having a computer and the internet makes such a difference in our homeschool, that I would love the chance to share that with another couple of families.

A good deal of money can be raised this way and could provide as many as 100 meals for the needy in my home county.

I spent six years in the Army National Guard, and my enlistment just ended earlier this year, and I am pursuing my Master's now. However, I still have lots of friends in my old unit, and they left after Thanksgiving for training in the states and will leave shortly after Christmas for Iraq. Not only do these men deserve something nice because they are sacrificing so much, but also when not on missions it gets pretty boring over there — and that's when the loneliness and missing families sets in. So, I would help remedy that.
* HP TouchSmart IQ816 AIO Desktop PC - They'd not have anywhere to set this up, so I'd set it up at home to keep in contact with them and see what they need.
* HP HDX 18 series Premium Notebook PC - This would go to my old vehicle commander.
* HP Pavilion dv4 series Entertainment Notebook PC - This would go to my old driver, who has replaced me as gunner on our vehicle.
* HP Mini 1000 - This would go to my old dismount, who is now the driver on my old vehicle.
* HP MediaSmart Connect digital media receiver - I'm pretty sure they couldn't use this, but I bet my dad would love it for Christmas!
* HP Photosmart C6380 Wireless AIO multifunction - I know a certain nonprofit that I have written stories about (part-time journalist here) that could use this, as they are struggling with their current one.
* HP 564 Photo Value Pak - This would likely go along with the printer.
I will evenly distribute the software.

I would donate the whole prize (save one laptop) to my local church. More specifically, the prize would help the preschool children and their teachers who use the church every weekday to hold classes and afterschool programs for about fifty economically challenged students. The program allows the kids to begin their lifelong education who would otherwise not be able to attend preschool and would likely end up at a crowded day care center. The children are bused in from towns surrounding (and including) the Boston area and enjoy “physical, emotional, social and intellectual growth through experimentation and investigation”. Heavy influence is placed on each individual student and their respective family, and I myself have volunteered there multiple times, helping to create lesson plans and interact with the students.
The computers would be used for enriching the classroom by providing the teachers with a means to organize their lesson plans and activities for the children. Additionally, this first donation of computers will hopefully serve as the foundation for a mini computer lab within the school that would be used to have the children develop their motor, creative, and reading skills. The Kung Fu Panda bluray is also a fun addition to the package that I’m sure any preschooler would love to watch.

I have four persons/causes I would like to help with this gift. I hope these causes might be worthy of this gift. In our area seems that most charitable organizations and groups get lots of donations of equipment and supplies but it is so hard to help individuals to improve their lives. I would like to make a difference on a more personal level.
First I want to help a young stay-at-home mom who is disabled. She has two little ones and a new baby on the way. Her husband is able to work but is also handicapped due to first a terrible auto accident that kept him in the hospital for months and it was three years before he could walk again. Then two years ago he had some mini-strokes that left his one arm and hand crippled. They cannot afford to buy a computer of their own but if they had one that worked she could use her teaching degree to work with an online teaching opportunity that is available here. This would be a way that she could work as much as she is able and yet be home with her babies. This could really improve their standard of living, which is pretty much hand-to-mouth.
The second person I would like to help is also a young woman of limited means. She was in an abusive marriage and just walked away from everything she had in order to save her life. She is rebuilding her life but because her ex-husband had done things that ruined their credit, she is struggling. She has the opportunity to do freelance work at night in addition to her regular day job for extra income if she just had a computer. If I could do this for her it would really help to get her back on her feet.
The third person I would gift is my father. He has never had a computer, but the mini would be so wonderful for him as he could get email and all of his children and grandchildren could email him and send him photos. It would be great to help keep in touch with his posterity.
The final cause that I would like to support is our local family history center/geneology library. They offer free use of their computers, microfilms, and microfische to people working to find their ancestors. The people who work there donate hundreds of hours to give assistance -- all at no cost for this service -- they are all volunteers. The volunteers who have laptops even go out to teach in the homes of people who cannot come out to the center but would like to learn how to do family history. I would like to keep one of the laptops to take with me when I go to the center to volunteer, and so that I could also help those that are shut in but would like to do this work. A laptop would greatly help in these volunteering efforts.
Thanks for doing this, it is such a wonderful thing you are doing.

If I won this package I would admit to keeping a laptop for myself, but that's only because I will need one next year in college. My family simply cannot afford to purchase one for me, especially since I'll need one that can support large programs (such as AutoCAD) as well as support a wide spectrum of colours. The rest of the "goods" I would be donating to my home church, Prairie Creek Baptist Church, of 17 years. We've never been able to have high quality and fancy equipment, much less a fancy building, and just this year our church is finally getting updated. It's quite apparent though that we're on a super tight budget and I still don't know where any of this money is coming from, but it would make me joyous inside to be able to contribute somehow to this milestone in our church's life. The office area is still using ancient computers and other things that definitely need a face lift in the form of new HP technology. And hey, Kung Fu Panda was an excellent movie for kids, and the DVD could be some sort of reward of excellence in Sunday School classes.
Thank you for your time!

It is not often that I get truly excited at my age. However after reading about the HP Magic Giveaway I found my mind going in a thousand directions. So grab your coffee, let’s begin.
My history:
Vice President of the Cheshire Challengers. (http://www.takeanotherstep.com/CheshireChallengersRegistration.html). A group dedicated to helping handicapped children play little league baseball.
Former member of the Cheshire Human Services Committee.
One of the founding members of “Take Another Step” (http://www.takeanotherstep.com/) .
Habitual supplier to the Plainville Food Pantry, (http://www.thefoodpantry.net/aboutus.htm) .
Supporter of Camp Nerden. (http://www.takeanotherstep.com/TownTimesCampNerdenRTCCampStory.html)
Mother blessed with two children, one with special needs.
Personally knowing these organizations has granted me insight into the delicate financial crisis that each is experiencing.
The food pantry supplies over 120 families and is in need of everything. No doubt they already know of a child desperate for a computer/laptop, or perhaps the need is for them! Susie would no doubt cry if so gifted.
Camp Nerden is one of the very few camps (60-90 kids each summer) for handicap children. They constantly run a shoestring and need technology updating.
For the Challengers last year I printed over 800 pages of materials just for registrations. We serve over 50 children each season. Then there’s brochures, pamphlets for fundraising etc. Not long ago my hard drive became corrupt and lost most files and pictures for the league. Personally it was devastating. A new computer would help so much with all the printing/photos we do.
Let’s bring the holiday magic back. Together we can make dreams come true.

I would donate various computers to different members of my family. My daughter, a college student, desperately needs a new computer, but can't afford it. Neither can we. She'd get a laptop. My parents are on a fixed income, but they've been struggling with their computer. So I'd give them one, too. My husband's desktop is on its last legs, slow, and unreliable. Since I got a newer computer a couple of years ago, it's his turn. I'd probably give him the touchscreen, since he always gets my hand-me-downs. This time, he'd be the one with the newest, coolest toy.
And I'd think about keeping the tiny laptop for my writing, so I can easily travel with it.

I would keep the Touchsmart... it would be a great surprise for my husband he's been drooling over it since the first commercial. He's also in need of a notebook since he's going back to school in January (I'm thinking he would like the smallest one since it is very portable).
The other two notebooks would go to work with me. I work at the local elementary school teaching first grade. My first graders love the 2 times a month they get to go to the "computer lab". While it's much better off than it used to be... using computers every day in class would be a much better option! My 3rd grade tutoring kids would benefit greatly from them as well! This is amazing, and I'm hoping I win because I want to see the look on my kids faces when I show them what Santa brought them for Christmas!

My family is full of college students and parents trying to pay for it. My brother and sister would both get a laptop. My mom would get the printer so she can print her family photos and my dad can have the media connector (since he helped me with school) and the TouchSmart as he keep complaining his old screen is too small.

Thanks to HP and Geeks to Go!
I'm not a media nut, but my best friend Randy is. And, while he's got computers coming out the ying yang, my family of six is sharing two PCs. I think the choice is obvious. Randy gets Kung Fu Panda.
Kidding, kidding! Randy and his family need the MediaSmart Connect and would love the Photosmart printer. And Kung Fu Panda.

Winning such a grand prize would be fantastic. I have to say I'm definitely in the situation of needing a new PC and those desktop replacement units would be pretty awesome. For the DVD, I'm going to have to give that to my English teacher, and for the programs I'll send those over to the Technology teacher of my school. As for the printer most likely I'm going to donate that to my Photography class since an extra unit could help. The laptops are most likely going to be submitted into the school for a further competition/Christmas event that I want to help organize with the student council.

As I own a computer store, I have no need for any of the gear (already got what I need
,) I would donate it all to one of the local shools that needed it most.
Maybe even split it up and donate bits to a few schools.

I volunteer my time on the Technology Committee for St. Mary’s Prep School in Denville, NJ USA where my 3 children attend.
One of the goals of our committee is to acquire computers and a projector for the school library to create a media center that the teachers can utilize to enhance our children’s learning. Your prize package would go a long way to helping us achieve this goal.
If I were to win this prize, I would give the school all of the equipment except the Net-Book (which the computer geek in me would love to have) and one copy of Kung-Fu Panda.
Please let me know if you have any further questions and I’ll be happy to give you more information.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

I'd be thrilled to win the package. I would give a number of the items to others: one notebook to my wife, another to my mother (if she can bare switching to Windows), the photo printer to friends who are obsessed with printing pictures of their new baby, and one of the computers to our synagogue which is in desperate need of an upgraded machine for their office! Kung Fu Panda would make our young nephew very happy, I think. As a longtime graduate student, I'm not able to make substantial gifts to others very often and feel guilty always being on the receiving end. It would be wonderful to get the chance to share my good fortune, as I have felt lucky to have others share theirs in support of my education.

It's a youth camp and they can always use new computers, printers, and the theme next year is going to be Ninja's, so Kung Fu Panda will be a great movie night movie to show the kids that they won't have to buy!

AAA Pregnancy Counseling Center:
HP Mini 1000
HP Photo smart C6380 Wireless AIO (printer)
HP 564 Photo Value Pak
The best cause I can think of! AAA Pregnancy Counseling Center provides support and planning for mothers to be, all completely free. They are solely run off of donations and in this economy, they are facing a shortage of donations. Another major part of AAA's role is to go out and spend one week each semester in the local schools teaching abstinence. In this town, we have one of the highest number of STD cases in the country. AAA counselors work tirelessly educating students during the day and parents at night. AAA Pregnancy Counseling Center could greatly utilize the HP Mini, HP Photo smart Printer, and HP Value pack. Because they are on the move so often, their counselors could benefit from a Laptop, they could present power points and picture/videos at schools, while answering emails to those in need even when they are away from their desks. A printer would be another great device they could fully use. With many forms and paperwork a second printer could always be used.
Thanks-Giving Lutheran Church/Corner Stone Christian School:
HP Touch Smart IQ816 PC
A fairly good sized church, under some tough economic times. After a survey finding that only 20% of the congregation donates money, the church is having a difficult time coping with paying staff and debt from a recent addition to the building. Wanting to reach out to congregation members while in the lobby, Thanks-giving Lutheran could greatly benefit from an HP Touch Smart. Allowing members to view the latest updates and sign in. During the week while not in use at the church, the computer could be used for the Small under-funded school that utilizes some of our classrooms. currently they have over 10 classrooms, and 5 computers; all of them being tan!
Lutes (L-oo-ts):
HP Pavilion dv4 series Entertainment Notebook PC
Kungfu Panda
Office 2007
The Lutes, already having two children decided they wanted a third child. To their surprise Mrs. Lute became pregnant, but not with one baby, as she soon found out she was carrying 4! With six kids to take care of, Mrs. Lute stays home while Mr. Lute provides for the family. As you can imagine, 6 mouths to feed is a lot, and money is tight. With the quads now in 2nd grade I would like to give them an HP Entertainment Notebook Pc. As well as Office 2007 and Kungfu Panda. With four children all receiving the same assignments, computer time is precious and with the new addition of a Laptop and Office 2007 the children and Parents can all take their turn.

Being a lover of all things technology related, I would love to keep the TouchSmart. I've played around with it somewhere before and fell in love with it. The style, the functionality, I mean, it's just phenomenal. I would like to share everything else with my family, friends, and other organizations that have left an impact on me. My parents have always been so supportive emotionally and financially and I would be thrilled to be able to give back to them. My dad especially loves technology too and I believe he would love it. I would also like to help out my friend, who, due to familial conflicts and such, does not have sufficient funds to buy herself a new computer and is now stuck with a very, very old mac. She's always been there for me too, through the years of high school I've known her. She has always made me laugh when I'm sad or lonely. Yeah.
Thanks for this wonderful opportunity.

Its the only item on my Christmas list and I've been praying 4 it since the first commercial. Since my father is the one who has taught me everything i know about computers, i would give everything else to him(except kung fu panda because my mom would love that movie)plus he doesnt prefer anything with a touch screen(he's a little old school). I dont have any accolades such as being part of an organization or anything like that since im only 17 years old, im just a senior in high school collegebound with hopes of becoming a nurse practitioner to one day make a difference in this world.

If you were to award me the prize package, I would donate part of it to the library where I tutored kids last year as a high school student. The Kingsgate Library is a small, older library in a residential area where I live. There aren’t nearly enough computers there, and while the library should undergo a renovation in the future (2010), it is likely to be pushed back because of the downturn in the economy.
As a tutor, having a laptop would have been awesome as a learning tool. In high school I tutored students from Pre-K to community college levels, and there are a myriad of tools online and on computers that would have helped me teach and tutor people that came to see me. There are tools that would help me teach the ESL pre-schooler how to read and speak English, and tools that would let me help a 5th-grade science enthusiast that didn’t get the parental support and resources that he needed to keep him interested in the subject.
I would also donate some of the hardware to the high school that I used to attend, so that they could set up a decent media lab. That way, students would have access to high-powered computers for making media projects, instead of having to use slower computers that took longer and were more unstable (like I was forced to use).

I lost a lot this past year and winning this competition would really raise my spirits and allow me to say thanks to everyone that carried me through my struggles. I only have interest for the TouchSmart and everything else will be given away to friends and family whom supported me when there were days I didn't have a place to sleep. Even if I don't win I just want to say thanks to you guys for the opportunity in helping me

I would definitely share the love - each of my children would get a pc and so would my man. The only question is which pc would I keep for myself?
Probably the TouchSmart, I have been drooling over that FOREVER!
It would be great to win this, and regift, because in my house, there's always something to do on the pc. My son needs it for research papers all the time and since ours is dead I have to take him to the library all the time. My daughters also use them for learning and playing games.
I use it for research, networking, blogging, and am hoping to get a review gig going soon. That won't work so well on my Sidekick!
Love HP and Geeks To Go for this one!!
Thanks,

I'm not thinking of keeping anything to myself...maybe sharing it though. I'm not much of a techie, but I'm an elder sisterof eight siblings. Currently, I am attending college. One of my brothers is a year younger than me and I have another sister that is two years younger, both of whom started college this year. One of the many arguments in our house is always about computers. Whose going to use it next, and whose turn is it to go on, is a part of the main conversations that go around in our home. Currently we have an old desktop computer and my laptop. Well it was MY laptop, but of course I've been having to share. If I were to win the HP Magic giveaway it would definitely make up for great holiday presents for my entire siblings. I would give my brother and sister a laptop they have been longing for a long time. Especially in this holiday crunch, I know that a lot of folks are in need of the holiday spirit. Thus, I am going to donate the printer and one of the computers to a local charity in need. The Kung Fu DVD would also make a great addition to the free health clinic.

Wow, first let me say this is a wee hard of task because I wanted to call folks and see who needed it the most, but I didn't want to get anyone's hopes up either so I didn't make any calls.
Who I would love to give a laptop and touchscreen and printer to is a local battered women shelter. I know they need computers so they can start looking for jobs and can even have online training through courses such as offered at Familyeden.com. These homes really are only gateways until they can make it again, usually with children on their own.
I be honored if I could have one of the laptops to give my brother, Jeremiah. He is supposed to leave for Iraq at some point in late 2009, but I know this would make his day. And he is such a stand-up guy he truly deserves it. (I can say that I have 3 other siblings I don't want to give one to!)
The last I would love to keep.

I would keep one computer for myself to help out with school as I am a 2nd year Radiologic Technology student with a lot of papers to write! I would keep the Media Smart Connect to try it out. I would giveaway Kung Fu Panda to some local schools or day care centers for the kiddies! The opportunity to help others with their lives enriches my own, hence I would really love to win this giveaway!
Thanks a lot,

The notebook (Pavilion), my old printer, and other hardware to the CASF (Casa Sagrada Família - Sacred Family House, an non-government institution that takes care about poor children infected with HIV/AIDS).

I would love to share the magic of HP with a local Wyoming Search and Rescue Team. The laptops would benefit them by allowing them to install GPS software to allow them access to maps during a search and/or rescue. These Search and Rescue Team members, for the most part, are volunteers. The teams are not funded and resources are desperately needed. These laptops could, quite literally, save a life. Other parts of this wonderful prize package could benefit them as well.

If I won the incredible HP prize pack, I would share it with Healthy Marriage of New Mexico (http://healthymarriagesnm.org) which is an organization that works to strengthen marriages. This is done by giving couples tools to help with communication, conflict management and other common stumbling blocks that can create difficulty in marriages. Divorce, in addition to the emotional toll on the family, causes great financial stress on a community as well. Healthy Marriages of New Mexico is a faith based initiative that is currently looking to expand its operations out of Albuquerque into the southeast corner of New Mexico. Hello, I'd like to win this prize so much because it would do wonders. The mini computer I would give to my school so they can share it to students like a library book. The dv4 notebook I'd give to my brother for college since he's tight on budget. The HDX notebook would be mine. I'd be able to do my homework and photo works. The touchsmart would go to my grandmother's retirement home so she can share it with her friends since it's easy to use and very intuitive for the elders. The printer, since I have one at home, I'd like to create a school printer so everybody could print colour and not B&W.

I need a new laptop and a new desktop...but I would give the rest of it away. That's right, all the rest!
I volunteer with a great group here in New York City called Getting Out & Staying Out(gosonyc.org). We help 18-24 year olds coming out of Riker's with all of the challenges they face - housing, jobs, education - all towards the goal of avoiding recidivism and any other type of bad behavior.
GOSO is well and tightly run, but it's hit a bit of a rough patch, given that - in lean times - most people will donate any extra money to more 'family friendly' charities (think charities for children, etc.).
So, long story, long...give me the HDX 18 series notebook PC and the HP TouchSmart IQ816 AIO Desktop PC, and I will happily donate the rest to GOSO!
Regards,
Katherine

I am a daughter looking to give back to my mom. Last October, our house was robbed and her laptop was stolen. It had been a hand-me-down and ran very slowly, but my mom still valued it; she is a teacher and would use the laptop to work on her lesson plans. This loss was eclipsed, however, as soon after the robbery my grandmother had a stroke. We are lucky that she is still with us, but she is now bed-ridden and in a nursing home. My mom has been visiting her every single day for almost a year, and while she is thankful to have more time with her mother, she is emotionally and physically drained. I am away at college and so desperately want to treat my mom to a surprise.
I would donate one of the remaining computers and software to one of my grandmother's caregivers, a young girl who is trying to afford earning her college degree. She has been so compassionate to my family during our rough time - something that really makes a difference when a loved one is ill. Finally, the other computers would be donated to two specific bloggers (I won't list their names for their privacy) who have recently been laid off.

Having the use of a laptop my room mate wont have to use the school computers or constantly borrow or use another persons computer/laptop for his work. As for me going in the I.T. field a laptop would greatly help me with all of my classes from taking notes, doing homework, to class work that requires a computer, because trying to make my desktop computer mobile is next to impossible with how big and old the thing is. As for the small mini laptop I would give it to another friend of mine who dorms in another room, because he uses a mac computer that cant run any of his engineering programs because they are made for windows.

I work in education with primary school children aged 3-11 years. I would like to use this amazing equipment to enhance the children’s learning by introducing these new technologies such as the media centre and touchsmart computer. At the moment our ICT budget is extremely limited, with no real funding, therefore most equipment is worn and dated, and we come from a school where products like this are only a dream. If I win, I will be donating every single product to the school (I will be able to use them as well) where everyone will be able to use them to the full, this is including the children, members of staff, members of the local community and myself (I am the ICT Technician). Using this hardware will make learning more exciting. I believe a child’s education is the most important thing, the more way’s we have to enhance their learning the better, products like the touchsmart can help us introduce new ways of learning.

I would like to donate the prize to an organisation I volunteer at in vacations. I came across your site when searching for HP 1000 mini reviews. That's the piece of the kit that I would like to (greedily) keep... but only to help with studies
The rest I would like to the local hospice. It's a small organisation, only 5 minutes from where I grew up. Although overflowing with caring staff, it only has limited facilities inside for patients and their visiting families. I can envisage that the current "computer zone", that has an old (clearly donated) sorry-excuse for a machine, being drastically improved to give patients a chance to learn new skills and gain independence. Most importantly I'm sure their children, grandchildren and maybe a few of them themselves would love Kung Fu Panda!

I would give the HP Pavilion dv4 series Entertainment Notebook PC to my kid sister to replace her aging desktop system.
I would give the HP Mini 1000 to my cousin's daughter. It will save my cousin having to find the money on her tight budget to buy her daughter a PC for her college work.
I would give one copy of Kung Fu Panda to my other sister for her kids and the other copy to my brother for his kids.
I would give the HP Photosmart C6380 Wireless AIO multifunction and HP 564 Photo Value Pak to my brother.
Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student Edition and Corel VideoStudio X2 will both help with my degree. If there are multiple licenses they would also potentially help my cousin's daughter and my sister's kids.

Hi ,
Thank you and HP for setting up this beautiful give away.
We work in a small company and there is tea boy over here working for about 5 or 6 years, he is in his late 30s and has a wife and a little son who is in second grade, actually he is not in a very good economical condition and is struggling to pay his rent for the house every month, about a year ago he was asking if we knew where he could buy a cheap PC so that his sun gets acquainted with computers and stuff, so me and some of the other staff over here gathered some money and were able to buy a very cheap second hand PC for him ,we tried to keep the look of the PC as good as possible so that it wont be offensive to him and his family as everything inside is very old.I'm not quiet sure of the Spec of the PC but I know it was really outdated so that we could buy it for him real cheap.
So , My main concern is to provide him with the latest gear so that both himself and his son could start using that, as for himself, I am thinking that he could learn to type in word or maybe other do other stuff so that he could upgrade himself from being a tea boy and as for his son , I think growing up learning the new technology will give him the knowledge , perspective and motivation to try harder for the better future.I will give them the DV4 pavilion laptop plus the printer and Kung fu panda DVD.
As for myslef , I want to have a laptop to use when I go to business trip from time to time and I never had the luxury of owning one so that my computer would be personal. Being very much into the new technology , I love the laptops , netbooks , and multimedia centers very much but so far they are a little bit out of my reach. I will keep the HDX laptop.
Best regard and wish the best for anyone who wins all these perfect gifts,

I could give out the laptop to my sister and my girlfriend. They could both use it at/for work. My nephew could also use the desktop. Since we live far apart at the moment, it's going to be great to be able to connect online with them. It's also going to be a great learning tool for him, as he becomes engrossed in computers; he has been since he grew up with a gamer/freelancer uncle. I could also use the multimedia set, as I'd be moving out of my rented home into a low-cost housing of my own with my girlfriend. Wishful thinking, maybe, but it's going to be a blessing if I won.

If I were to win this contest the bulk of the items (at least two computers, the movie, etc) would go to my Aunt and her two children, Rachel and Erin. At the age of three Erin had to have a brain tumor removed and since then has been plagued with various medical conditions and side effects. Her life expectancy is 15 and she turned 10 this year. Rachel is 13 and a freshmen in highschool. My Aunt is now as single mom and stays home taking care of Erin full time, so as you can imagine they are living paycheck to paycheck and cannot afford computers. Computers which Rachel needs for school work. They have been given computers in the past, but all are out of date and broken.
The other computers would go to my husband Tom. He is starting his own company and developing a computer system that will give schools more bang for the buck when it comes to their labs, maintenance, and overall software capability.
So that's what I would do with the loot were I to win this contest.

HP has done a fantastic job of putting this package together. I need a new laptop for the house and my daughter is going to college next year and will need one too. We have a battered woman's shelter where I live that would love a few computers so if I win I will be donating a couple of the computer to them. It is a wonderful time to be thinking of others, especially during this economic downturn.
Happy holidays to all.

I would give the HP TouchSmart to my 70-year-old mom so she can visit her favorite websites. She has been missing BYU TV online because she's using my old HP Pavilion computer runs on Win98 and can't open the videos. The TouchSmart screen is plenty big for her to see. My nieces Jessica (planning to go back to college) and Suzanna (currently going to college) would get one laptop and the HP mini 1000. (Jessica gets first pick.) The other laptop would be mine, to do my college coursework.
My major is web technology. My coursework involves creating websites. I plan to mostly do websites for nonprofit organizations while I'm in school. My first such website is for the Webster County Museum (Iowa). I'm also thinking of starting a technology group at church to help people learn to do email and so on.
Although this doesn't include donating to an organization, it would enable me to donate my time to nonprofit organizations. I would be able to help others as well as myself, thereby having that warm fuzzy feeling you get when your efforts help others.

I'd keep one of the notebooks for myself to replace the ancient one I am using since I lost my good one (and everything else) in a tornado two years ago. I'd donate some of the other products to be auctioned off to raise money for the West Memphis Three (www.wm3.org). I raise money and awareness for this cause, and coordinate the World Awareness Day (http://www.myspace.com/wm3worldawarenessday), working with thousands of people all over the world to raise awareness and much-needed money. I would donate one of the notebooks to the wife of one of the West Memphis Three.. she has selflessly given up everything to fight for her husband's life and freedom and I know a new computer could help her.

I would definitely have a list of people to give these great prizes to. My mother, who got me into computing early in life, would be on the list.
Also, my friend who has to use her mother's computer to pay her bills online would have to catch one of these systems as a great gift! I also would donate one to someone that is in 'need' not 'want' locally in my community so that they could benefit from a gift such as this.
In addition, my friend at work that is always here to cheer me up, would get one of the systems to use at home.
There are so many ways to give back to others and this package would allow me to do just that. I love being able to help others and I have always said if I continue to do that, life is worth living.

If I win this contest I will want to share three laptops, Microsoft Office 2007, HP photosmart C6380 wireless AIP multifunction printer * HP 564 photo value pack.
I want to share laptop HP Mini 1000 with XP & Microsoft office 2007 home and student edition with United Christmas Service (Part of United Way), Indianapolis, Indiana. Actually we small group of people every year give something to them. Last year we were able to sponsor 3 kid’s clothing and food needs. This year we also trying make it to that goal again. I helped purchases and wrap gifts last year and it was so rewarding to know that those kids were going to have basic necessities (t-shirts, work pants, school uniforms) that most of take us for granted. If I win this contest I want to add one computer on their gift list so that they can learn some new technology too.
2nd laptop which I want to share is HP Pavilion dv4 series Entertainment Notebook PC. I also want to share HP photosmart c6380 wireless AIO multifunction printer & HP 564 photo value pack with same person. I want to share these with my friend who is in India and struggling to find a job. These laptop will help him to learn some technology and make him more competent to find the job.
Apart from this I also want to give HP HDX 18 Series Premium Notebook PC & HP mediasmart Connect as a gift.
I want to keep HP touchsmart IQ815 pc with me.

I live in San Diego and see many military families, or just service members, walking about malls and downtown streets, shopping or window browsing. I think it'd be great to surprise them with the laptop and printer set. I will probably keep the desktop (for photography), the mini (for college), and one other laptop (for sister). I would donate the software and videos to children at the San Diego Children's hospital.

I would have to be a little selfish in that I have two sons about to start college and I am stuck at home disabled and no hopes of ever going back to work at this time. I would give them each a laptop for college and set up the desktop at home here for all of us since I do not currently have one. That way they could have use of it when home and I could keep in touch with them when away, and the wireless printer would probably stay with the desktop. I would also give the student programing to them to run the computers and help with their schooling and the windows live.
The mini I would give to my ex-husband who is suffering in this economy and almost jobless at this time, so he could keep in touch with them also, and I would give him the windows live package.
The Kung Fu Panda I would donate to the local hospital for the childrens wing so those children who are stuck there would have something fun.
The rest I guess I would also give to the boys to be used for college or here at home.
This could really make the difference of making it in college or not. I do not know how or what they will use if I don't find a way like winning to help them get what is needed for college in this day and age. Also my ex husband could really use the help to bring him into the 20th century and anyway else I could use this package to help others, I would. I'm sure I will think of other more to do, but this is it for now, other than I will also use the desk top to continue to help through the internet other organizations in any way a poor disabled old woman can. Thank for this chance at such a wonderful way to give to others!!

I would probably keep either the HP HDX or the HP Pavilion dv4 and give the other to my friend, who cannot afford to buy one for college (which I think would help him take notes easier and do his work in the middle of the night, when the library would not be open). I would give the HP Mini to my father, so he does not have to fight with my mother to use the computer. I will definitely give the Kung Fu Panda movie away, but that is more because I do not want it! I would give away the HP printer, the Videostudio, the photo value pack, and the mediasmart to my uncle, who works in video editing and publishing.

I would share the prize pack with my mom (since her computer is ten years old, and she is REALLY in need of a an upgrade), a laptop for my friend mel, who was nice enough to loan me her laptop, and a good enough friend that she didn;t even get mad at me when I crashed her harddrive. (I think i will take advantage of the free tech help in your forums to see if I can fix it, it I don't win lol). And a laptop for my friend debra who is struggling to get by as a recently separated mom of twin 16 year old boys and a severely handicapped 4 year old daughter. I know she would just give it to her boys for christmas, but if it helps to releive some of the burden of trying to provide her kids with gifts when she's already struggling financially, then I am still spreading magic.

Personally, I don't have a use for any of the objects in the prize package aside from a couple of the smaller items. What I plan to do with it is sell everything except for the printer, photo pack, and DVD. I'll sell them at low prices to give others a great deal for the holidays, and turn around and use the money I make for bigger and better presents this holiday season. I will likely also keep one of the computers for a giveaway on my blog, because that seems like a really fun thing to be able to do.

My daughter attends a special needs preschool program funded by the local school district because she was diagnosed with autism last year. The school district is failing, and even with the passage of a new levy, they have cut out any support or supplies for teachers.
Her classroom has an old computer that only works part of the time, and a printer that is older than my daughter. (She's 4.) I would give the majority of this prize to her classroom so her teacher can finally use the software she's been given to help her students (her computer is too old to run the software) and print off the papers she uses for fine motor skills and writing practice. This will be a big help for her, since she's been bringing in her personal supplies for the kids.
I would save one laptop, though, for a friend of mine. She is a single mom who is trying to go back to school to get a college degree. She called me last week and told me her employer is cutting back, and so she's now out of a job. I'd love for her to have a laptop to make it easier for her to do her schoolwork, instead of spending more time away from her 4 yr. old son to go to the computer lab.
All I want from this package for myself is one laptop for my husband. He was laid off in June, and we've had no steady work since then and have spent most of our time on unemployment. His computer screen went out this week and we can't afford a new one. But he has been getting a little contract and freelance writing work in the past month, so he needs his computer for work. We're hoping one freelance job will become a full-time job, since we've been on assistance far longer than we're comfortable with. We both write and sharing one computer is getting difficult.
Thanks for this contest!

All I would take is the laptop to replace my tired hp laptop. And I would donate the rest to The Greayt people at http://www.greyhoundangelsadoption.com/ I work on their systems and i do it for free because it makes me feel great, that they take these dogs in(who would be killed) and find great homes for them. They are a non profit org and don't have much money to take care of the computers in the office since they pour all the money into the dogs and kennel. The software would be great in helping improve the website and the computers would speed there process up 3 fold. And the movie would be played for all 70 dogs currently in their kennel. I would really like to make their holiday wishes come true. Thanks for giving them a chance to have something new.

I would personally keep one laptop and the all in one printer for myself. I've been in need of a printer for three years now and it's troublesome getting things printed when I want. I would give one laptop to my brother. He's been without a computer for over a year due to a nasty virus and some laziness on his part to fix and/or replace the old junky desktop he currently owns. I might sell the touchscreen and give the money to my mom to help pay the bills. The rest would be donated to a local charity.

Hi,
Firstly, thanks for the awesome opportunity to win this prize pack!
I would keep the high-end laptop for myself for University next year, and possibly one of the other computers for my Mum and Dad (who currently have a slow system at the moment). With the rest of the prizes, I would auction them off on the New Zealand auction site Trademe and donate the result of the auctions to various charities.
Thanks again for the opportunity!
