"Error loading C:\PROGRA~1\UNINST~1.DLL The specified module could not be found." I have done all of the steps on this topic and as the error message has came up twice in the space of a few days, I'm not sure if it has been removed. Here is my log: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 19:00:20, on 09/04/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MsMpEng.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\ACS\AOLAcsd.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgamsvr.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgupsvc.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgemc.exe C:\Program Files\ewido anti-malware\ewidoctrl.exe C:\Program Files\ewido anti-malware\ewidoguard.exe C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiptaxx.exe C:\Program Files\BT Voyager 105 ADSL Modem\dslstat.exe C:\Program Files\BT Voyager 105 ADSL Modem\dslagent.exe C:\Program Files\VoyagerTest\fts.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\ACS\AOLDial.exe C:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\RealPlay.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgcc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\1143137555\ee\AOLSoftware.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Album Starter Edition\3.0\Apps\apdproxy.exe C:\Program Files\TrojanHunter 4.5\THGuard.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\Program Files\AOL 9.0\aoltray.exe C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe c:\program files\common files\aol\1143137555\ee\services\antiSpywareApp\ver2_0_25_1\AOLSP Scheduler.exe c:\program files\common files\aol\1143137555\ee\aolsoftware.exe C:\Program Files\AOL 9.0\waol.exe C:\Program Files\AOL 9.0\shellmon.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\aoltpspd.exe C:\Program Files\AOL Companion\companion.exe C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe C:\Documents and Settings\val\Desktop\HijackThis.exe O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll O3 - Toolbar: AOL Toolbar - {4982D40A-C53B-4615-B15B-B5B5E98D167C} - C:\Program Files\AOL Toolbar\toolbar.dll O3 - Toolbar: Yahoo! Hi _Endless_,
The only program I know to generate that error is the uninstaller of MYWebSearch. Ofcourse there could be others, but can you run HijackThis and: Click Config, click Misc Tools Click "Open Uninstall Manager" Click "Save List" (generates uninstall_list.txt) Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post. Please post the uninstall list. Regards, |

Under Add/Remove Software can you choose the Remove option for:
Viewpoint Media Player Let me know if it uninstalls without problems. Reboot and let me know if there are any error messages. Regards, |

I have uninstalled it, without any problems. No error messages appeared when I rebooted. However, the error message I recieved happens sometimes, not everytime I start the computer.

Hi _Endless_,
No problem. Let's have another look. Please RIGHT-CLICK HERE and Save As (in IE it's "Save Target As", in FF it's "Save Link As") to download Silent Runners.

There is no reason in there for it, that I can see.
We'll have to try something else. 1. Launch Notepad, and copy/paste the contents of the quote box below into a new Notepad file. Save it with file name options.txt and save as file type: all files to your desktop. QUOTE RegSearch Options File [Search] UNINST~1.DLL C:\PROGRA~1\UNINST~1.DLL C:\PROGRAM FILES\UNINSTALL.DLL [Exclude] [Options] Filter=KVDLUI 2. Download Registry Search to your desktop.

That doesn't learn us anything either.
The last possibility I can think of is that some program starts this supposed uninstaller every so often. Is there any regularity, be it time or number of reboots, between the times this happens? Regards, |
