Can anyone help please?

Having some major issues with my PC lately!....What's New!

The following error appears when Windows boots up and when I am recieving mail from 'Outlook Express'. I have to click on 'OK' error twice to recieve an email!!!!
ERROR:

ccApp.exe - Bad Image

The application or DLL C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec\ccCharCv.dll is not valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.

Obviously this seems to be an issue with my newly bought Norton 2006 ( I should have listen to others and bought McAfee, would have saved some money too). To add to the issue I've noticed recenlty I'm recieving a [bleep] of lot Spam/junk mail in my 'Outlook Express' - atleast 4 a day!! I thought Norton was such a clever program that it will indentify these embarassing emails and filter them to junk....but NOOOO, it goes to my Inbox!! Before I had Norton 2006 ( I had Norton 2004 - no issues) I never got these Spam/junk mail......I mean never (only in Hotmail - but thats standard), so why now?

Please, Please someone help me!!!

PLEASE NOTE:

I have already performed the following and I've had no joy still:

Close all browser windows, run HijackThis and chck :

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dxset.exe] C:\WINDOWS\dxsetu.exe

Click "Fix checked" and close HijackThis.

Download Pocket Killbox from HERE.
Unzip and run it.
In "Paste full path of file..", copy/paste : C:\WINDOWS\dxsetu.exe
Tick "Delete on reboot".
Click "Delete file" (the white cross).

Let the computer reboot.

Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite from HERE.
Install it (When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck : -Install background guard and -Install scan via context menu), and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Reboot your computer in SafeMode .

Run Ewido:
Click on scanner
Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.
When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
Save the report to your desktop
Close Ewido

Reboot in normal mode and here:
- Post a new HijackThis log.
- Copy/paste the Ewido report, please.

and

No, I think that it's not there anymore. But the registry is protected and the value:
[dxset.exe] C:\WINDOWS\dxsetu.exe
is not removed.

So, disable : Microsoft AntiSpyware, Ad-Watch.exe from Ad-Aware and Spyware Doctor if still installed.
That done, run HijackThis and tick :
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dxset.exe] C:\WINDOWS\dxsetu.exe
Click "Fix checked" and reboot.

Print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer and uncheck the same box to enable System Restore.

See if you can find and delete the file $$$$$$.bat from c:\windows\system32 and C:\Documents and Settings\Your_Username\

Fix this in HijackThis:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dxset.exe] C:\WINDOWS\dxsetu.exe

Download CleanUp! http://cleanup.stevengould.org/ (Alternate Link if main link don't work - http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/CleanUp.exe ) and install it. CleanUp! deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders. It does not make backups. If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, make a backup of these before running CleanUp!. Run CleanUp! and click on the CleanUp! button. Let it run. After it's done, click the Close button and choose Yes to logoff.

Download KillBox http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/KillBox.exe. Run KillBox and check the box that says 'End Explorer Shell While Killing File'. Next click on 'Delete on Reboot'. Right click and copy the below lines. Go back to KillBox. Go to File->Paste from Clipboard and then hit the button with a red circle and white X. Confirm to delete and when asked if you want to reboot, say Yes:

If you get a PendingOperations message, just close it and restart your computer manually.

Restart and post a new HijackThis log. Also give us an update on this problem.
