I am no computer expert, so bear with me. Background: yesterday my computer (Windows XP) started to run very slow, so I called out my computer technician. He scanned the computer and found lots of adware, which he removed, including one dialer. Then he removed some registry stuff that remained after I had removed (months ago) some games that my teenage son had loaded up on my computer.

Now here is the problem: after the tech was finished and the computer was running normally again, we discovered that no search engine would load on Internet Explorer! I cannot load Google or Yahoo or Msn.com. All other internet sites load properly and I can use those sites no problem. My technician is going to do some research to see what the problem could be. In the meantime, I thought I would see what others had to say about this problem.

Any suggestions?

What firewall are you using, firewalls such as zonealarm can block certain categories, such as search engines.

Thanks for the response spike_hacker! I just checked and the only Internet security programs I am running are Windows Security System Firewall and Norton Anti-virus.

OK, let me try something different. I would like to interest you in firefox, download and install firefox. When you have done so try and access search pages from there.
