Hello. I'm helping a friend clean his PC of unwanted malware. I've already found, and disposed of, quite a few things, including the Java.ByteVerify virus (found by AVG) and several pieces of adware/spyware such as WhenUSaveNow, Freeze.com, Magic Control Agent, Connect MFC Application, eGroup, Starware Toolbar, and the InstantAccess dialer (all found and removed using Spybot S&D and AdAware SE Personal Ed.).

Still, when online, we get quite a few pop-ups...mostly related to poker/cards, spyware detectors/removers, and adultfinder.com. Occasionally we'll get a pop-up from servers such as http://static.egwn.net. Below please find a log of a HijackThis analysis I ran only minutes ago in Safe Mode. Although I was tempted to check (and have the program fix) items which look familiar and suspect (such as the lines referring to the missing partypoker.exe file and the line containing "egaccess4" [is this related to the old eGroup malware that I thought I had wiped out???]), I thought it best to have a HJT expert review the log before taking any action.

I do have the latest version of CCleaner handy in case I will need to use it. :-)

Well, here's the HJT log. Many thanks in advance for extending a helping hand!

Hi soopersinger and welcome to Geeks to Go,

Sorry for the delay the helpers have been busy.

When scanning with HijackThis, could you please do the scan in Normal mode unless requested otherwise.

Seeing that the log is a few days old, could you please post a fresh HijackThis log.

Thanks
