Sorry, no one could help me, but since I got a fix from CounterSpy that worked, I thought I would post it here to help others who might have the same problem. When I tried to delete the registry entry as instructed below it kept refusing to be deleted. It took some thrashing around to finally check the correct permissions box and apply it in the right order, but I was finally able to delete it. END of PROBLEM >>>
Here is a short cut to the instructions that follow it. Cheers, John http://support.sunbelt-software.com/script...nZT0x&p_li= This issue is caused by WinFixer. It can be easily taken care of by following the instructions below. 1. Left Click on Start and Left Click on Run. 2. Type the following into the white box and then press enter. regedit 3. This will launch the registry editor. 4. Scroll up to your HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Expand this directory (if not already done) by clicking the plus symbol next to it. 5. Double Left Click on System. 6. Double Left Click on ControlSet001. 7. Double Left Click on Control. 8. Double Left Click on Class. 9. Locate the following: 29AE0E04-08B8-4D2F-BFBE-8..... 10. Right Click on it and Left Click on Permissions. 11. Under your user name or administrator make sure you check full control for the folder. 12. Now Left Click on advanced, check the box for replace permission entries and then Left Click apply, Left Click Yes, and then Left Click OK. 13. Now Right Click on 29AE0E04-08B8-4D2F-BFBE-8..... and Left Click On Delete. Click Yes. 14. Close your Registry Editor. You may now run your CounterSpy scan fully. The Winfixer Entry has now been removed. *Disclaimer, editing the registry is done at your own risk. If you are not familiar or not comfortable with modifying your registry then I suggest having a technician that is capable doing it for you. |
