Hey, I was messing with the RAM settings in my ASUS BIOS (possibly another settings for the CPU). I thought I knew what I was doing but obviously not and saved the settings and restarted and now the computer sounds like its starting up and all, but nothing comes up on the screen (even if I plug the monitor into the MOBO output) and it beeps at me. Beeeeeeep beeeeep beeeeeep beeeeep Just over and over and over. PLEASE HELP!

2x 512 sticks of PC 3200 DDR400
2 Primary Western D (IDE)
2 secondary drives (IDE)
GeForce 6800 GT 256MB AGP
I have 1 auxilary slot filled with a USB

Some codes may vary depending on your machine.

AMI BIOS
1 short DRAM refresh failure
2 short Parity circuit failure
3 short Base 64K RAM failure
4 short System timer failure
5 short Process failure
6 short Keyboard controller Gate A20 error
7 short Virtual mode exception error
8 short Display memory Read/Write test failure
9 short ROM BIOS checksum failure
10 short CMOS shutdown Read/Write error
11 short Cache Memory error
1 long, 3 short Conventional/Extended memory failure
1 long, 8 short Display/Retrace test failed


AWARD BIOS BEEP CODES
1 long, 2 short Video error. BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information
Any other beep(s) RAM problem.


IBM BIOS
No Beeps No Power, Loose Card, or Short.
1 Short Beep Normal POST, computer is ok.
2 Short Beep POST error, review screen for error code.
Continuous Beep No Power, Loose Card, or Short.
Repeating Short Beep No Power, Loose Card, or Short.
1 Long, 1 Short Beep Motherboard issue.
1 Long, 2 Short Beeps Video (Mono/CGA Display Circuitry) issue.
1 Long, 3 Short Beeps. Video (EGA) Display Circuitry.
3 Long Beeps Keyboard / Keyboard card error.
1 Beep, Blank or Incorrect Display Video Display Circuitry.

Any of these sound right?

Try resetting the bios.
Turn off the computer, (make sure you unplug it too). Locate the bios jumper ( 2 or 3 pins) and reset it as per the motherboard user manual ("clear cmos position").
Or, remove the battery for 20 minutes then replace it. (make sure you unplug the power supply)

thats the one but there are no shorts, it has power, all cards are in and everything but I'm going to take everything out except the one hard drive and see if anything happens. Does the motherboard have a little battery that needs replacing sometimes... I think I read that somewhere but I've never had a problem like that.

PLEASE if anyone else has any ideas please post them

open the computer, look for some pins that say "clear cmos"
How many pins are there.
Is there a jumper on them? (A small peice of plastic over the pins)

which of these motherboards do you have?
A7N8X-E Deluxe
A7N8X-X
A7N8X
A7N8X-VM/400
I will then be able to tell you where it is

The sticker on it says A7N266-VM/AA

PROBLEM SOLVED

This particualr model of board does not even have a jumper to clear cmos with. you have to take out the battery and short 2 points on the board with a screw driver to clear the bios. Thanks for your help sarah you did move me closer to the solution.
