Hi,

I have a user in work running Windoes XP who has an IBM Thinkpad that does not like running on its battery.
The laptop works on battery if an external monitor is plugged in, but take the monitor out and the machine goes into hibernation/standby.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

What happens if it runs with the power cord in but no monitor, it sounds like somethings not connecting inside but im not sure.

You sure the battery hasnt gone dead? because if you have it plugged into mains with a fully charged battery and you never use the battery the battery loses its charge and you will need to get a new battery.
