Hi, this is my first time here. I've also seen that others have been infected by OuterInfo as well, however i didn't see how it was cured or what the steps were for me to do to get rid of it. So i made this thread. *NOTE* I AM NOT and i repeat NOT a computer genius *NOTE* so please give some detailed steps if possible smile.gif! <3.

Anyway, everytime i open up internet explorer, or go to some site, 1 or 2 pop-ups will come up. It'll say something like "Advertisement by OuterInfo" in the blue bar on the pop up (the bar u click on to drag the pop-up). Anyway, it's really annoying and i REALLY hate it. I've tried a lot of programs to get rid of it, and it just won't go away! so PLEASE helpsmilie.gif !!!

Also, i've tried using 1) Ad-Aware SE 2) Spybot and both have not solved the problem

personal info edited out - agrarianmonk

Again, thank you for your time wub.gif . I hope this evil outerinfo will be killed! Woo!

sorry* i forgot to post the hijackthis stuff here it is :

Hi Miroku2192,

Welcome to G2G! My name is Daddee and I will be helping you.
  1. Display Hidden Files Please set your system to show
all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.
  2. HJT Fixes Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {3D700E23-EFB4-9632-E0A0-C159A781F99B} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\qrmdlw.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {64E36FE5-8D2F-8184-5DE1-834A3682A0EC} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ulneb.dll
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RunDLL] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\bridge.dll",Load
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Pspzu] C:\WINDOWS\system32\TI2EVX~1.EXE
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Notn] "C:\WINDOWS\SKS~1\taskmgr.exe" -vt tzt
    O4 - Global Startup: Updates from HP.lnk = C:\Program Files\Updates from HP\137903\Program\BackWeb-137903.exe

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
  3. Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

  4. Delete Files Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ulneb.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\bridge.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\TI2EVX~1.EXE
    C:\WINDOWS\SKS~1\taskmgr.exe
    C:\Program Files\Updates from HP\137903\Program\BackWeb-137903.exe

    Exit Explorer.
  5. Reboot Normally
  6. Post Logs Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we will take another look. Also, please tell me how your computer is running in as much detail as possible.

Daddee

Hey thank you for replying to htis thread. Ok, so i have a few questions before i start touching anything so that i don't mess it up tongue.gif .

1) when you said to do the "display hidden Files", i did that, but now on my desktop there are a lot of like "word documents that look like "semi - clear" meaning it;s almost invisible, but it's not. It looks like when you cut a program, the thing where it's semi - claer. So i was wondernig if i could delete those things cuz it took up the whole desktop blink.gif . I could send a screen shot of it if u want, but yeah.

2) this part : Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

do you mean that i re do the hjt log and then delete it?

3) by closing all programs, how do i make sure they're all closed...like would norton p[erson firewall count as a program imust close? and synmantec antivirus?

(sorry, i am not to goood with computers, however thank you.)

We will rehide the "hidden files" after you are clean. In general you should not merrily delete hidden files as they are hidden to prevent just that. However, Malware (Malicious Software) likes to hide itself to avoid detection. I had you display hidden files so we could delete malware related files.

Run HJT and click on Scan Only. Then select the lines I listed in the instructions.

Miroku2192
Simply close all the windows listed in the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, EXCEPT HJT. The reason for this is that some browser highjackers will be hard to delete if a browser window is open. Don't worry about Norton or your firewall, leave them alone.

If you have any other questions you only need ask. smile.gif

Hi i finished steps 1,2, and 3. I've deleted the files u told me for step 2

HOWEVER!!!!

for step 4 in the safe mode i couldnt find at all even with searches:

1) C:\WINDOWS\system32\ulneb.dll

2) for C:\WINDOWS\system32\TI2EVX~1.exe -
i found a C:\Windows\Prefetch\TI2EVX~1.exe-312BCAZE.pf

I have screen shots of searches for

Hi Miroku2192,

Don't worry if you cannot find a file.

I neglected to mention that this filename is obscured: C:\WINDOWS\system32\TI2EVX~1.exe What you are looking for is a file that begins with TI2EVX and has a .exe extention. When you search, search on TI2EVX*.exe Sorry about that. blushing.gif

In Step 6 you do not have to save the HJT log. Rather, you can just cut and paste it into the thread. If you are worried about losing it then save it over the first one. It is posted here so you will have no further need of it. smile.gif

Ok so 1) i found the BackWeb-137903, however it did not have the ".exe" in the filename. However it's location and everything was correct. If i should delete it, i'll go back and delete it. But i just wanted to make sure confused1.gif .

here is the HJT log.

Hi Miroku2192,

Almost there! smile.gif Please delete the backweb file you found. The extention is simply hiding from you. wink.gif
  1. End Bad Processes Press Control-Alt-Del to enter the Task Manager.

Click on the Processes tab and end the following processes:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\TI2EVX~1.EXE <== "~1" can represent any character(s), look for a process beginning with TI2EVX.

Exit the Task Manager when finished.
  2. HJT Fixes Place a check next to each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {64E36FE5-8D2F-8184-5DE1-834A3682A0EC} - (no file)
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Pspzu] C:\WINDOWS\system32\TI2EVX~1.EXE

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
  3. Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.
  4. Delete Files Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\TI2EVX~1.EXE

    Exit Explorer.
  5. Reboot Normally
  6. Post Logs Post back a fresh HijackThis log and I will take another look.

Daddee

Hey, i've done everything you said except for step 4.

I found TI2EVX~1.PF, however it was located in C:\Windows\Prefetch,, not C:\Windows\system32, plus it's not .exe.

ALSO, why do i have TWO taskmgr.exe in the Windows Task Manager/Processes section? is that suppose to happen ohmy.gif, looks kinda fishy blink.gif

1 taskmgr.exe says - CPU 01 or sometimes it goes back to 00, but often stays at 01, and then the MEm usage is 6,440K
2 taskmgr.exe says - cpu 00 all the time, with mem usage as 5708 K

Anyway, here is the logs and thanks soo much for all your help wub.gif thumbsup.gif .
