OS: Windows 98SE

Hello

A few days ago my IE stopped functioning and my Home Page Address was modified to res://C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SHDOCCLC.DLL/dnserror.htm
My Outlook Express continued to function properly until today. I now get an error message number 0x800CCC0D.

I was able to continue to surf the net with Firefox but today I lost the use of Firefox. When I type an
address I get the message "http://www.xxxxxxx could not be found.

Also the language in Internet Explorer has been changed to Swedish.

My computer is still working but I cannot connect to the internet.

My HighjackThis Log

Hello and welcome to Geeks To Go.

Re-run HiJackThis and click scan. Place a check next to this entry.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = 211.48.25.2:8080

Then click Fix Checked, reboot your computer, and see how it works.

Also, I would like to see an Uninstall list. Other than that one entry, your log is clean. If there isnt anything in your uninstall list, we'll have to ask you to post in the OS forum.

Open HijackThis, click Config, click Misc Tools
Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
Click "Save List" (generates uninstall_list.txt)
Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.

Thank you verymuch for your solution. I can now connect to the internet. I still have to resolve how to get rid of the Swedish language in my IE.
I am presently travelling and will contact you in about 10 days.
Again thank you for your assistance.

Best regards

No worries. Just let me know when you get back. When you do that, please post that uninstall list and well see how things look.
