2 1GB sticks of RAM are installed. On boot up the initial POST screen shows 2048MB RAM OK. However, the computer is running very slowly. Running a hardware scan found on PCPotstop, it says that Windows is only seeing 128MB RAM! No wonder it's running so slowly. How can I get Windows to see all of the RAM? Thanks. |

How much RAM can your computer handle? Perhaps one gig was as high as it could go?

I'll check when I next get the chance, but it's only seeing 128MB, not 1GB!!
Is Crucial the best way to check, or use Everest to get the info? |

Try crucial, and then give us your manufacturer and model of computer, and I'll do some research myself.

Sorry for time taken to get back. Been away.
Checking Crucial shows 2GB is OK. Will faulty RAM only show a certain amount? I thought RAM either worked or it didn't? Memtest worth a try then? |

If the BIOS sees your memory correctly, then I would think that on a hardware level you are in good shape.
What version of Windows please? Also, what does SYSTEM under Control PANEL reflect as far as memory? |

Windows XP.
System and System information report 2048mb, but in System Information it says 128mb free. The scan on PCPitstop reports that there is a discrepancy between installed RAM and how much Windows is seeing, ie 128mb??? |
