Somehow I won the lottery and got Newdotnet on my computer. Have tried various ways to remove (did not show in Add/Remove Programs) including Symantics suggestions, using AdAwareSE, Search & Destroy, etc. etc. I have tried deleting rundll32, ClientStartup-s from registry, but it always shows up again on next reboot. Your help in fixing this annoyance would be appreciated. HijackThis log is below. Hi, and welcome to Geeks to Go. I apologize for your wait - the forums are very busy. First, Download LSPFix.exe to a convenient location. Do NOT run this program. This is only to be used if you lose Internet Access after removing NewDotNet. To Get rid of NewDotNet, go to: Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following: New.Net Applications or New.Net Domains (anything that says New.Net) If it is not there, go here and follow Procedure 4: NewDotNet Removal Procedure 4. In the event that you lose Internet access after removing New.Net, please double-click LSPFix.exe that you downloaded earlier. You will see 2 panels. If there is any file listed in the "Remove" panel on the right-side, leave it as is and just click "Finish>>" then reboot your computer and you should now have access to the Internet. If nothing is listed under the "Remove Panel", do NOT do anything - just close the program. You will need to use another computer to come back here for further instructions on what to do. No NewDotNet, New.Net Application etc., show in my add/remove program option. I have while waiting to hear from someone tried NewDot Nets uninstaller. It didn't help. Spysweeper is probably interfering with that fix, so we're going to disable it temporarily. We'll re-enable it once you're clean. To disable SpySweeper Shields

That appears to have done it. I rebooted 4 times just to make sure, and that entry did not return. Hooray...the frustration and irritation is "out of here"..I think. New hijackthis log is below. Well, everything else in your log looks good. Let's re-enable the spysweeper shields. Spysweeper is probably interfering with that fix, so we're going to disable it temporarily. We'll re-enable it once you're clean. To enable SpySweeper Shields

Thanks for all your help and the great suggestions. Thought you would like to know that when I activated all the shield in Spy Sweeper and rebooted the RUNDLL Error Loading Message and the rundll32,clientstartup-s entry in the registry returned. I uninstalled Spy Sweeper and deleted the entry in the registry again. Then after rebooting and finding everything ok, reinstalled Spy Sweeper. Everything is great now, but I found it frustrating that Spy Sweeper would somehow retain that entry. Anyway thanks for your help. It has been appreciated. slsmith |
