How to network Windows XP and Windows 2K

I have recently installed Windows XP on my PC. My wife still has Windows 2K on her PC. Both PC's are connected to the Internet through a Linksys router. I would like to find out if I can network the two PC's together even though they both have different operating systems. I was able to do that when both our PC's had Windows 2K, but try as I might, I have been unsuccessful in networking XP with 2K.
Any thoughts?

Thanks,

K2
