Hello, I am having trouble with my HP ze4400, the port where i plug my power adapter doesn't seem to work. I read a prior post about this issue (post by thejohnstinks titled: HP Pavilion ze4400 ac/power trouble, need new part for motherboard) I was wondering where i can get a new motherboard and how would i go about installing it. Your help would be greatly appreciated. |

I would ask in your local computer shop if they sell the same model, remember that components may change with models, ram, cpu, etc., also when one is changing the mobo, it is the head of the octopus so everything has to be reattached to itl

Thank you for the reply. I checked at the local CompUsa store and they told me it would cost $150 and another $300-400 for the motherboard since that port is attached to the motherboard. Are there any other options since this laptop is about 3 years old and i bought it from my supervisor earlier this year.

not a bad price seeing the amount of work needed to do it, and if it were just one part I would say do it yourself but as I said before it is the head of the octopus so all the parts connects to it, and there is a bunch of little wires that fit onto the mobo. On the next repair job that isn't the mobo like now, see if you can do it with friends as it's fun, but this time forget it.
