OS: Windows XP home

when I turn on my computer, a black screen comes up and a message that says, your system32.exe file is either corrupted or missing. When I put in the Windows XP home software CD, the PC doesn't read the disk. When I try to type something, Windows tries to start up again and the same message appears. Can you help? I am not PC literate at all.

System32.exe is not a genuine Windows file. It is malware. In your case it sounds like the file has been removed but the Registry still contains an entry for it. Run the Registry Editor, use 'Find' and delete all references to this file.
