I'm unsure how to ask this properly, I have NO knowledge of this.. My friend is planning on starting a website. Well, maybe not "planning" but really wants to and is determined. strapped for cash, however, I want to help her with the coding so she doesn't have to hire tonnes of people who will over price themselves to code the entire thing badly and not the way she wants it.

She is thinking of creating a website much like Cyworld, or Sayclub. the korean and japanese websites that have features like creating your own room and groups of friends and clubs and such. Here are some links:

Sayclub
Cyworld
Gamevil
Enppy
damoim
candybar
abatown

She is very artistic and creative, she has the motivation to do it all by herself besides the coding. acctually, she probably could do even that on her own after learning but no one feels she has the time or even maybe patience.

we understand that it's very hard to take on somethinglike this- but we are determined. I hope you will help us by letting me know and conversing with me maybe on an Instant messinging service to help me understand somewhere that I can find more information on how to start. Some things we know we'll need but arent going to buy until we are certain that this wil be a project for us are a good webhost, plenty of space, and a domain name. also We will need graphics (done by my friend) and coding (done by me, and possibly some others?)

Where do I start learning how to get the essential things i'll need to know/do ?

Hello UberMario

I would start at http://www.w3schools.com/php/default.asp if you want to learn php and mysql, which you will need if your going to write a site like that your self.

The other option would be to have a look over something like http://hotscripts.com they might have something like what you want that you can use.

Thank you both. Michael, I already am on that site, haha. I used it right after you suggested it in chat.
