I imagine I need to convert them to .avi or .wmv format and then edit the clips. After that, I then need to burn the finished avi or wmv file to DVD so that it can be played back on a regular DVD player for a TV I don't want to spend a fortune on professional stuff as I only have 4-5 hours of video to work with. But I am very nervous about downloading free "stuff" from a Google search. Any advice on software or techniques that I could use would be much appreciated. Undersiege |

you can use Super Encoder to convert the video into just about any format of video in one step.
It should be able to do what you are needing. Plus its free! |

Hi Jester,
Thanks for your advice. It certainly looks the business but I checked through some of the FAQs and I think I'm jiggered by this one: Q.019 Can I encode directly a VOB file from my DVD into iPod or any other container using SUPER ©? A. NO, SUPER © cannot decrypt VOB file on a DVD. You need to use a DVDdecrypt program to copy the VOB files to your HardDisk, then SUPER © can encode them into any other format of your choice. Note that SUPER © does not require the .bup or .ifo files to be copied to your HardDisk. So it looks like I have to find a decyption progam of some kind. I suppose this to protect commercial DVDs from being copied. Undersiege |

No worries, you're not jiggered yet... I just got one step ahead of myself. I thought you already had the VOB's decrypted on you drive.
To do that, one of the easiest programs is DVD Decrypter. Hope this helps. |
