Hi. Did this just happen after upgrading Firefox? Any other changes made to the system recently?

Nope, It seems many other people are having a problem. So it could just be firefox.
Just checked it also doesn't work on my Internet Explorer 7

Check and see if you are able to hear sound when watching a video on youtube or google video. If you can't, then I have a fix that should solve that, and probably your entire problem.

Sorry for the delayed reply, but... Which internet browser are you using? Have you tried another?

Try the following and see if it fixes your issue:
  • Go to START-->RUN and type regedit to open the Registry Editor
  • Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32
  • Now right-click on the heading Drivers32 and select NEW-->STRING VALUE.
  • Call this new String Value wavemapper.
  • Now double-click the wavemapper entry you just created and for the VALUE field, type in msacm32.drv and click OK.
  • Close the Registry Editor and try watching a video on youtube again.

Acually I have both, and Windows 2000 for some reason isn't working. When I last used 2000 sound worked fine.

I don't have 2000 installed on a machine at my house and with the blizzard conditions here in Wisconsin I won't be going into work today to check on my 2000 machine there. I will check for it on Monday and post if no one has posted a solution by then.
