i juss changed my motherboard out of its origonal case and it worked for a while and then it shut off. The Compaq application said that the computer was over heating. So i looked at the CPU from the side in order to get a better view and the heatsink was not sitting correctly. I was wandering if mayb my CPU burned out. The processor was Pentium 4. I ended up hot glueing the heatskink to the board in order to keep it still. I ended up getting some glue up off the CPU itself as well as the board itself. I repositioned the CPU and now the monitor doesn't work. I also removed some hot glue from the memory slots and the memory itself. My AMD was almost the same way. I went to school and it was working fine and when i came back the computer locked up and the monitor never worked again. The AMD Athlon XP2000 never worked again.

Why didn't you use duct tape?

But seriously, if you actually glued before it stopped work, you probably broke it, the glue would act as an isolator and wouldn't let the heat escape, thus over heating your CPU.

By any chance when you switch your motherboard did you add thermal paste or a thermal pad between the heat sink and fan?

What I'm reading here, the monitor should be fine, i think you just fried something, but just to be sure hock it up to a working computer to double check. Also How much glue was on your ram because depending on where it was, you could have very easily overheated it.

is there any way i can tell wat i fried or the defective part or somthin
also is there anything i can get 2 fix it or somthn. Im tryn 2 rebuild som old computers
being that i can't get the origonal board and heatsinks have stopped using clamps and started using screws
wat should i do.
also how do u make a computer or even windows for that matter go faster. Is there any program that I can use to scan my computer for gliches and problems. The computer im on now is always locking up im thinkn a heating problem because i put the heatsink on this one as i used on my AMD Atholon and this is a Intel Celeron. I figured that mayb it will run faster if the CPU is cooler. Any advice on any of this?
