Problems with IE7, dl´d IE7 but it won´t install

hi again everyone. a friend of mine just called me and asked for help. he dl´d IE7 with windows update and it says it installed but he cannot dl anything. he can use the net but can´t dl or print from websites. what could be the problem?

OS: Windows XP



All downloads through IE are now intercepted by Windows if running SP2. You have to right-click the yellow warning bar at the top of the page to allow the download to proceed. Maybe he doesn't realise that?

he uses aol and says that the red x next to the address bar blinks and then goes off. no yellow bar. when he tries to use opera he just gets codes
