Hello all smile.gif

Was just listening to some tunes on my way home and thought of this topic.

As i listen to tunes all the time i was wondering if any users have heard of a certain musician that makes you go wow!! that's awesome...

The two that really spring to my mind are Rob Halford of Judas Priest singing Johnny B Good, and Sebastian Bach of Skid Row singing I Remember You.

Anyone else hear something that made you go wow??

Post away I'm always looking for that kind of thing, and would love to hear what others have to say.

I'll probably sound really really old to a lot of you here, but for a vocal:

Bridge Over Troubled Water; Simon and Garfunkel; sung by Art Garfunkel. Sends up a chill up my spine and makes my scalp tingle.

Guitar virtuoso:

Anything Robin Trower

Morphine - in spite of me (from the CD "a cure for pain") i don't cry...not because i'm some "manly man" (though i am mucho mas macho)...but because i'm generally completely apathetic...this song....well if it comes on when i'm driving...i have to pull over

Driving home from work today...

Hotel California by the Eagles

That is a song that no matter how many times I have heard it, I still say WOW and get that feeling you can only get from an amazing song.

Almost any song off Leonard Cohen's "Ten New Songs" Album.
Bought it when I was on hols and put it in the player in the car at the beginning of an 8 hour return trip and after hearing it through the first time put it on repeat and never did get to put another CD in the player all trip!
A Thousand Kisses Deep - Amazon

Agreed, Hotel California is probably the best song of all time.

As far as vocal performances go, this one is my all time fav :

"The Great Gig in the Sky" (album : Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd)

No words, just emotion... from a session singer called into Abbey Road Studios on a Sunday afternoon ; she got paid $50 for this. (now she's getting royalties though thumbsup.gif ).

I cannot drive while this is playing whistling.gif

I'd have to say for me it would be the ACOUSTIC version of "Silent Lucidity" by Queensryche. His voice is amazing ANY time..but this version of it brings tears to my eyes every time.

No laughing at me...but my other one would be a performance two season ago from American Idol...when Bo Bice sang an old song called "In a Dream" a capella. It was absolutely amazing. yes.gif

@ultimateslacker2 :

I don't get why this would be funny to you, I really don't... If one of my sisters could pull off "The Great Gig in the Sky" with anything close to the same range, power, precision and emotion, it would knock me off my chair... and I'd be sending her off to some big music producer...

I wouldn't mind listening to a sample of her singing, if you can pull that off somehow.
================

Kat : "Silent Lucidity" has to be one of the best power ballads of them all (acoustic or original). Great choice thumbsup.gif
