I program I use to do that sort of thing is called 'RealVNC' or as I call it VNC Viewer.

A link for it is below:
RealVNC

Install that on both computers. You will need to set a password for the viewer, but it is very easy (and sometimes fun wink.gif ) to use.

Hope that helps

If you had windows XP Pro you could use the remote desktop just by setting it up. but Home edition is not for Professionals so it does not have that option.

you will have to install a software eg.( https://secure.logmein.com/home.asp or gotomypc.com )

Ok i'm very greatfull that you have tried to help me but i've still not had a great deal of success.

Heres were i'm at now.

I have vnc on both machines i've went to my windows firewalls and allowed the program i've also allowed there ports on my windows firewall.

I went on to the router but when i was reading up on portforwarding i found this.

http://portforward.com/english/routers/por...ger2100/VNC.htm

I paid no attention to that and went in and opend the ports.

After all of that i was able to connect to my desktop using my laptop in the house. On our Lan. But when i got to work and tried to access my pc at home i got the following message

"Unable to connect to host: A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable host. (10065)"

So i am kind of stuck now. Any more help that can be provided would be muchly apreciated. Thanks

first thing I would do is go to your work and do the following:

CODE

Start > Run > cmd

Then type this:

CODE

ping <your homes ip address>

If you don't know your homes IP Address go to THIS LINK

Also while you are at work allow your homes IP address on any firewalls you have on your work PC. And vice versa (Get your works IP and allow it on your home machine)

I hope that isnt to confusing! Just try that and see what happeneds.

Hope That Helps! and Good Luck! smile.gif
