I have a router with an inbuilt ADSL modem this is connected to my phone line to allow me to connect to the internet (This is in a separate room to where my Xbox 360 is) My PC is connected to my Router using a wireless PCI card My Xbox is connected to my computer using a CAT-5 cross over cable (My Xbox 360 is in the same room as my PC). I have media player 11 installed on my PC When I try to connect to my PC using my Xbox to share media files it can’t detect my PC I get the following: TEST MEDIA CONNETION Network Adapter ----- Wired IP Address ------------- Confirmed PC selected ------------ Failed I try and search for my XBOX using Windows Media Player 11 but it can’t detect it can anyone help Thanks P.S. I just got my XBOX 360 and have the same problem. Connecting on the same network to a Windows Vista machine (running Vista RC2) was a snap... perfect... with streaming videos music... perfect. However my XP Home machine with Media Player 11... no luck. I am wondering if Microsoft is trying to force people to do the Vista upgrade.
In any case, the fix is easy. Use TVersity, It was easy to set up and worked first try! |

Have you enabled sharing in WMP11?
Tools > Options > Library > Configure Sharing Is the XBox 360 allowed? |

Yes... I allowed the XBOX 360 in WMP11... but the XBOX couljd never see it. The exact same configuration in WMP11 on my Vista machine worked perfectly. I was starting to run a key by key comparison between the two machine registries, and got an email from a person witht same problem who fixed it by using TVersity. TVersity was quick and easy to set up and fixed the problem... so I am sticking with it!

Im sure your suppose to have media centre to be able to connect to a PC with shared media. Vista Ultimate has media centre and it has better support for networking and the Xbox's XP is harder to network than Vista i would upgrade to vista on get the beta and it will work. Mine worked first time on vista.
