DVD to iPod Tutorial

Required Software (free):

DVD Decrypter (Can be downloaded at: http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/DVD_D...r/1011845169/1)
Videora Converter (Can be downloaded at: http://www.codecshelp.com/fil.php?filid=125)

Before Anything:

• Install DVD Decrypter (Version 0.92 screen shots shown)
• Then Install Videora Converter (Version 3.5.4.0 screen shots shown)

Step 1
Place the DVD you want to rip your video from into your DVD drive.

Step 2
Launch DVD Decrypter.

Step 3
Go to the Mode menu and select IFO I mode. This will give you access to two new tabs; Input & Stream Processing.



Step 4: Go to the Tools menu, select Settings, go to the IFO tab, then under Options, change File Splitting to None and press OK.





Step 5: Go to the main screen and click the Stream Processing tab. Enable it and only select the first video listed. Note that home encoded movies do not support subtitles of any kind and that your file can only have one type of audio.





Step 6: Before you begin ripping your video, note the destination of the video file. This is where your raw DVD rip is going to go and it will be rather large in size. If you want to change the directory that DVD Decrypter will output to, click on the Browse button and navigate to the folder you want and press OK.



Now that you know where the movie file is going, click on the Decrypt button to start decrypting the DVD to your hard drive.
Once it is done, close DVD Decrypter. Expect a 4 GB to 6 GB movie to take about 12 to 18 minutes.

Step 7 (Step 1 of Video File to Device Conversion)
Click on Convert (1) and click Transcode New Video (2). Then locate the file that you ripped using DVD Decrypter previously and click Open (or locate the file on your computer you already have, like MPEG or AVI, etc).



Step 8 (Step 2 of Video File to Device Conversion)
Once video is loaded into the program, change the Title to what you want the video title to be (3) and then press Start to begin (4).



Step 9 (Step 3 of Video File to Device Conversion)
Once the transcode is complete, your video is ready to be moved to your device. The finished file will be located in the Output Videos to: folder specified in the Setup section. Simply copy the file using Windows Explorer to your device, or if your device is an iPod, import the video into iTunes.

nice job man and thanks for the sharing, i've tried different other program...and eventually bought imtoo, the reason is:
1. easy to use, only a few clicks to put dvd into my iPod
2. very fast, 2 hrs dvd only need 40 mins
3. directly dvd to mp4, no second time conversion needed which saved me lots of time
4. the output mp4 file size is very reasonable, had a good balance between file size and output video quality(while watch in iPod)

ImTOO DVD to iPod Converter is a super DVD to iPod transfer software for Apple iPod that can transfer DVD to your iPod directly. Here is the guide:

1. Run DVD to iPod Converter and load DVD. Please choose "Add DVD Folder" in the 'File' menu or directly press the "DVD" button in the main interface, then select your DVD Drive in the pop-up window and press the "OK" button.



2. You can choose to convert either any chapters within a file or the entire file at will.
* If you want to convert the entire file, please follow this way:
(1) Set output format:
In "Profile" drop down list box, you may select output format. The software allows setting different output formats according to different files.




Tips: There are 2 optimized settings for iPod video conversion, iPod (60G) MPEG-4 Movie (*.mp4) and iPod (30G) MPEG-4 Movie (*.mp4). Selecting any of them, you will get iPod MP4 formats directly.
(2) Set conversion mode (Optional) After selecting certain output format, the right column will show its general standard. Clicking certain settings such as 'Zoom', 'Split', 'Destination' and 'Title' etc, you may set it.



Tips: you can set "Bit Rate" by choosing the rate given, such as "512". And the higher the Bit Rate you choose the better the picture you will get. Certainly, you can keep all the above options default without any change.

(3) Start conversion:
Finally, selected the chapter you want to convert and start conversion by right-clicking the file name and selecting 'Rip Selected' under the menu.



* If you want to convert just a chapter, here is the way: After your DVD is loaded into the program, please select the file name and click the "Show Chapters" button in the main interface and then you will see all the chapters within this file. Please select the chapter you want to convert and do the same as the above (1), (2) and (3).

3. And then you will get a file that is ready to be played on your iPod. But how do you add it to your iPod? Here is the way:


(1) Please click 'Open' button after the conversion is completed.


(2) Find the converted file in the destination folder and pull it to your iTunes.



(3) Drag the file onto the iPod logo in the iTunes and then release the mouse when "+" appears around the cursor. The file will be transferred to iPod automatically.

Finally, you are able to enjoy your beloved movies on your iPod breezily!
