hi there
can someone help please- i have tried various computer/system scans ie. Volume check, Tune Up scans, disk defragmenatator, CCleaner, AMust Reigstry scan, disk cleanup, AVG scan on safe mode and McAfee system scan but my computer still unexpectedley crashes at times.

NOTE- it mainly crashes when I am watching media files or downloading from torrent files, and it never used to crash before.

Please go to the Malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the Instructions to do before posting in the malware fourm.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.

I have tried the above menitoned advice and my computer still keeps crashing.
I was able to take note of three seperate times that it crashed (Blue Screen of Doom):

The problem you are having could be malware/ virus/ software/ drivers/ or hardware related.
If we try to fix the issue without a clean bill of health for malware/ virus, we are spinning are wheels and will get no where.

Please get a clean bill of health in the malware forum, and then if necessary, come back here.

i have sent my hijack file in the malware forum but so far I have got no replies/advice.

I dont want to bump the thread but I seem to be getting no replies from anyone.
I tried a SuperAntiSpyware scan but my computer kept crasing during the scan.

As you can see from what I found, it could be malware, or a combination of both.
You need to be patient in the malware forum. The specialists are quite busy.

How long has this been going on?
Have you added any new software? Hardware?
You do have a virus scanner? firewall? spyware scanner?

well the computer was beginning to crash up to two months ago mainly when I was watching media files and trying to download from torrent files and it never happened before. Sometimes now when I leave the computer on without even running any programs the computer still crashes after a certain amount of time.
I have just tried to do a McAfee virus scan but the computer froze during the process and I had to reboot the computer and up to yesterday I was able to complete McAfee virus scans.
I have McAfee, AVG Anti Virus,CCleaner and Tune Up utilities as well as AMust Registy Cleaner. I use the programs regularly and it is still unable to prevent the computer from crashing.
Do you have any idea of what I could do?

You could try running them in safe mode.

NOTE: I am not a malware specialist, and they frown on anyone but themselves giving this advice, but a scan in safe mode could work.


The comp could also be overheating. When was the last time it was cleaned out (fans, esp cpu). I assume it is a desktop.
Try downloading and installing everest (in my signature), it will give us some good info including temps.

Under computer on the left, click on sensor to see the temps.
I want to see how hot they are.

You have malware on your system from the looks of your HijackThis log. Please wait until someone a little more qualified than me in that department can help you out.
