I have a professional business site that i am working on for my company and was wondering if some could let me know what they think of it. my site as well as the link to the ftp site is being run off of a server out of my place of business, which is also my home off of a 10 meg download 384 kb upload. let me know what you think of it. i wrote it in Visual Studio 2005.

www.mikewohlrab.com

and the ftp server site is:

First off you are designing your layout with tables instead of CSS.
As I continually post here, that is the wrong way to design your layout.

Secondly, the site does not pass validation (14 errors).

Thirdly, the site was REALLY slow loading. This would be because it is mostly images and bloated because of the table layout.

The colors are OK, nothing to write home about, but it is easy to read an looks quite similar to many other business templates.

Thanks TheNotch. i will work on all those things that you pointed out. but im not sure what you mean by its really slow loading as i have tested loading the website from the distance of a 30 mile drive, all the way to 3,250 miles, the approximate distance from rochester ny to los angeles California and the pages have loaded with relative fast speed. are you perhaps on dialup? if that is the case, then it could be slow, but im not going to worry too much over dialup as my market is the people who have dsl/ high speed cable. Thanks again for the suggestoins and i will work on them.

IDS Admin,

your name says your an admin, but your status shows your are not, and you have posted the symbol love. im not sure what you mean by that. perhaps you could explain?

I am not the admin of this site silly. I am the administrator of a string of servers named "Intega Democratic Servers". But I am not going to explain it here considering it will seem like advertising (even though the servers are all down since I just moved).
And I posted the symbol of love because he said everything I was about to say.

I haven't had dial-up since 1997.

The images load OK now, not lightning fast, but at a reasonable rate.

Okay say if someone had torrents running in the backround, or a bunch of downloads going. Do you think they would spend more then 10 seconds waiting for your page to load before giving up?

I see your point about it loading slow, but please dont over exaggerate the point. im not getting mad, but also keep in mind that many sites i have visited they have loaded slow, yet i still visit them. this website is being run off of a home network with upload speed of 384K which actually isnt that bad based on the fact that many people are not able to download that fast as their computer or ISP may limit it. when i get enough money i will most likely move the server to an offsite hosting company with redudnant backups, 100% uptime guarentee with a backup generator, air conditioned server center, gigabit lan downstream, couple meg upstream... and so on. but i think its a pretty fast speed for a home business running their own website/ ftp server off a home network.

ok if im missing the point, then i guess i will never get the "point" so lets move on away from a 'slow' load time to what the site looks like, and how it could be made better, while still maintaining a business look and feel.

Dude you dont need to get all, im just trying to help you, why are you turing away help. oh now youve turned away help, dont ask for help again, and if you do, im not going to help you, and no one else will help you either. now can you please either comment on how my website is and what you think i should do to improve it, or just end it here and let others with comments on my site get a few words in and let more helpful folks come in.

also this has gone quite a bit off topic, partially my fault which i see, and also partially your fault. so lets either leave well enough alone and get back to business or lets take this to a "PM" and away from the public.
