Need a new graphics card that can easily handle 1680x1050 for games, On tight budget.

Sheesh, I bought a giant monitor, and now I can't play any fullscreen 3d games unless I buy a new graphics card. My resolution is 1680x1050. I am on a tight budget. Any recommendations? I just want something decent, I won't have all the settings jacked up high (usually set them to normal or low), nor do I play hi graphic games.

I would not go with the 8600. It just isn't cost efficient. I'm guessing you are not going to play DirectX 10 games so I would get a 7600 GS.

Right on, the only games I play are some 2.5d japanese side scollers and UT2004. That is about it.

Oh so this really will be a big upgrade for you.
PS: Just want to be sure, Are you sure that you have a PCI Express x16 slot on your motherboard? I thought you were replacing a previous card with this. Also how many watts is your power supply? To use the 7600 you should probably have at least a 400Watt PSU (Power Supply Unit) and have over 18 Amps coming from the +12V rail.

I do have a PCI Express x16 slot. As for the PSU, I think it is 300. I don't wish to upgrade my PSU...

Ok so you have an eMachines T6520 Media Center PC. I can't find anything about the PSU but you can. If you take the side off of the computer you will be able to see your PSU. There will be a sticker on it. It will look something like this: http://www.jacobmp.dk/media/freeze60/psu_stats.JPG

As you can see on that pic that PSU is a 400 watt PSU with 23A (23Amps) coming from the +12V rail.

Anyway, hmmm, thats a pickle the minimum to run the card is a 350W PSU with at least 18Amps from the +12V rail. How many Amps are coming from the +12V rail? That is the important part.
