Operation System Not Found, OS

OS: Windows XP



When i sign on to my laptop i get a black screen that says: "Operation System Not Found". What can i do to fix this problem? I have a HP laptop and have Windows XP on it or had it on it. Please help me fix this problem.

Do you have an XP disc or a recovery disc that came with the laptop?

Sounds to me that the HD hasn't got any OS on it at all, you need a copy of XP boot from the CD and try the recovery console but my guess is that it will have to format and reinstall windows! What was the last thing you did on the laptop prior to the error??
