I'm having a weird problem with my printer messages, here goes:

My wife and I use the same computer, Win XP Home, sp2, fully updated, with two different log-ins. We both have administrator privileges.

We use an HP Deskjet F335 all-in-one printer.

Sometimes when printing, the document would go to the printer, the little printer icon in the system tray would say it was printing, but nothing would happen. Refreshing or deleting, what-have-you, nothing would work, unless we rebooted, then our document would print.

This went on for a while before we realized what the problem was. Printer messages were popping up (ink cartridge low, for example) in the other person's login. The messages pop up in the profile of whoever logged in first to the computer, even if that person later logged out. Only by rebooting and logging in first can we fix the problem, or switching user, clicking ok to the message, etc.

Not a major problem, but very annoying and it seems there is no reason for it. I appreciate if anyone can help me with this.

I've been having the same problem with my XP Home SP2 machine and HP V40xi all-in-one for about a year now (coincedentally about the time I hooked to a wireless router). Had a go-around with the HP tech folks but no resolution of the problem. Have never noticed error messages in the other user accounts logged-in, but powering off the printer and then right back on always fixes it; for a while at least.
