www.mimischild.com

I KNOW the backgrounds are different on a few pages. Which is better? Marble? Flowers? The flowers came out MUCH bigger than I expected. I also know that the navigation bar is missing from at least one of the Metaphysical Qualities pages. I accidentally deleted them from the directory. Also, I think it's sort of boring. No clue how to fix that. Bear in mind that most of my traffic will be my friends and my mother's friends smile.gif Since I design and make every piece, I couldn't handle a ton of orders (hehe) anyway.

This was created in Publisher 2007. Can I change the skin with CSS using the HTML code fragment option? How? Do I need to change the page sizes? Can I add a flash intro with the door of the jewelry armoire opening? How do I add copyrights?

Any helpful, constructive criticism is appreciated. I haven't publicized the website yet. I had enough trouble getting it UP and got help from Major Payne and Neil Jones here.

Thanks!

Titania

ETA: I don't know how to write code. Yes, that is embarassing, at least here. If I NEED to write code, pls recommend a good book. Thanks.

Please do not take my comments to heart, and I hope you appreciate the feedback.

I had a friend that took pictures of jewelery for a living and used a flatbed scanner with a piece of white paper behind it. Everyone thought his pictures were great. It probably depends on what type of scanner you have, however yo should give it a go.
Having a white background on your site, and around the jewelery will make your great products stand out more.
The fancy text is also hard to understand.

Your jewlery is great!! I am a big fan of original hand made items.

lizbr, thank you! I got an email from a friend today who mentioned that the floral background made it hard to see the jewelry. I will definitely try scanning the jewelry. Right now I use a ring light or "hollywood" lights, but frankly I am a terrible photographer.

I was wondering if the Monotype corsiva was hard to read. It isn't on my laptop, but I know it's not a "web-ready" font. I do want something similar--any suggestions?

Thank you for the compliment, I'm glad that you like my designs. And I do appreciate constructive criticism smile.gif

If you do add the cursive writing, don't put it in a box. Spread it out in a sidebar link menu.

Also to help you find your missing menu here is a site How to use menus in pub 2007

H'mmm? I'm not sure what that means. Shouldn't I just change the font for the whole document?

Thank you. I do know how to fiddle with the navigation bars. What I am having trouble with is uploading the most recent version of the photo gallery. I deleted "photogallery3" from the ftp index. Photogallery4 was there, but for some reason is not visible. Ugh. The site is all messed up AGAIN. I am going to scan jewelry today and re-do the photo gallery. And for some reason the links are broken, and they worked perfectly a couple of days ago.

On the plus side, the store (http://shop.mimischild.com) works perfectly bc I CAN'T mess it up laughing.gif and I sold two necklaces smile.gif

Go to that site that I gave you for the menu and search for any other problems that may occur. When people start making webpages they all seem to have the same problems..I know I did...
