It's not your connection's problem, it's iTunes' problem. You see, when a festive season arrives, lots of people give out gift cards, mostly from iTunes, and those who recieve them go online to redeem their gift cards. As there are more people doing so than on a normal day, the numbers are far different from each other, so iTunes' servers will experience bandwidth shortage, and thus some users can't connect.

Don't worry, once the Christmas season is over you'll be able to connect again.
