Maybe i've watched too much of that FBI show that uses maths to solve crimes i.e 'numb3rs'

but is there a way to predict dice rolls in gambling games like 'sic bo'??

i mean is it REALLY random? isn't what shows on each dice face after each tumble in the tumbler, determined by information like, how high the container is, what is on the face of the dice to begin win, where are they on the platform i.e in the middle or side of of the platform bottom etc etc

can you use any of these ideas to increase the probability to predict a winner? i.e small big or at least if a specific dice number will come out. smile.gif

I guess nothing is random if you look at it this way... But I don't think there is really a way to predict something. Ron should be along with his math stuff and tell you tongue.gif

I agree with Landlord there, unless the dice are "fixed" the outcome is pure luck!
But let's wait for Ron to finnish counting his "daily winnings"and just MAYBE he will let us in on his secret winning streak and do the math for us! whistling.gif Until then,my money stays in my pocket! laughing.gif

There is always ways to calculate a scenario as you have seen with numb3rs. There are a way to many variables to calculate and unless you are there recording movements, weights wind, force behind every object it's really impossible to accuartly predict how something happened with math. Sure you could come up with a rough estimate, but nothing exact like you see on TV. Remember, the truth is always streched on TV to make things interesting.

As for dice, you have have percentages of something happening (these do not change from roll to roll), but never accurately estimating an exact number being rolled at a given time.

astro2 you may like to read up on 'probability'. In a casino environment, with practice and dedicated observation over time, one may do well at roulette.

I think you mean Poker as roulette is more of a mix of luck and memorization then calculatating probability on the spot.

Actually, poker and roulette in a casino environment are both a mixture of luck, memorisation and practice.....in a way. In most casinos, betting on red or black in roulette will be one of the top 5 best bets in the house. However, bet on anything else in roulette and the odds will be significantly stacked against you. People often think of each casino game as a whole entity with only one set of odds when they try to estimate their chances of winning, not always totally aware that each game can comprise vastly differing odds. With card games, unless you can count cards, ace locate, shuffle track (not to mention the placement of the cut card), forget it.

No nothing illegal here, but I can imagine if you are sitting and watching a roulette table at a casino with:
  • Calculator
  • Pen and Paper
  • Camera
The security would move you on pretty fast! laughing.gif
