Hi all, great site, I've been a lurker for months who's benefitted from reading the forum.

I've had a good look around for a solution to my problem but can't see one and that's why I've had to start this thread.

I've had a laptop which connects to a router wirelessly for about 2 years without a problem. The router is also hardwired to my desktop which still currently works fine.

My problem is I can no longer connect to my network even though I can see it in 'view currnet networks'. I've had a bit of hassle with my laptop which over the last couple of days got worse which eneded up in me recovering this morning and starting from scracth.

I have an Acer laptop(wifi), speedtouch router and use AOL. I have WEP encryption (which I have dissabled but still could not connect to 'graysnetwork'. For diagnostic purposes I have successfully connected (albeit briefly) to an unsecured network, something which I couldn't do over the last few days as my laptop was giving me grief.

I've tried connecting a million times. When I click 'connect' for my network it does not ask for my WEP key even though it sais it's secure.

I've been in 'change settings' and where I can enter the WEP code it sais it's too long.

This is all driving me crazy, hopefully someone can help.

Many thanks in advance helpsmilie.gif

Try to reset the router. keep it connected and use a sharp object to press the samall pin at the back. Keep it pressed for about 30 seconds until reset occurs. Enter your user name and password. Do not apply encryption at this stage. Try to connect.
