I can't get an IP address on my desktop

I was having problems with my linksys wireless router at home so I bought a new one. It is a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router model wrt54g. I reconfigured the router so my work laptop could work on my network. My laptop works fine now. I also have two computers connected directly to the router; however, one of them can not connect to the internet and it does not have an ip address.

I went to Start/Run and entered cmd. Then I entered ipconfig but it does not pull back an ip. I also did ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew and it doesn't pull back anything either. The windows command prompt just keeps re-appearing.

Can anyone help with me with this??? Thanks

If you do not get any response back from the ipconfig command, usually that means you have the network adapter disabled. To check this, go into the Control Panel, and then into Network Connections. If you see the "Local Area Connection" icon grayed out, then it is disabled. Just right click on it and click enable.

Let me know if that fixes your problem.

Thank you for the tip but unfortunately it did not work. I checked my Network Settings and it says Connected, Firewalled. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks!

Can you post exactly what message you get when you try "ipconfig"?

When i do ipconfig it just says Windows IP Configuration and then the command prop comes back up.

I believe the next step will be to reinstall the drivers for your network adapter.
