First of all, I must say I appreciate that your members are so helpful. It's awesome.

I've got a problem with my PC since a couple of months. It was already not a real fast PC, but now, it's incredibly slow.

By example : when I play flash games on the Internet, they're incredibly slow. This problem occurred only a couple of months ago, my flash player is updated, so I think I controlled all the softwares that run flash games, so, it can't be about the software, I guess?

The Internet on this PC runs way slower than another PC on the same network, I don't think this is normal. We 've tested the network many times with several PC's and they all run fast except this one.

Applications open very slowly also, and the startup of the PC is extremely slow.

I see that Viewpoint is installed. Viewpoint, Viewpoint Manager, Viewpoint Media Player are Viewpoint components which are installed as a side effect of installing other software, most notably AOL and AOL Instant Messenger (AIM). Viewpoint Manager is responsible for managing and updating Viewpoint Media Player components. You can disable this using the Viewpoint Manager Control Panel found in the Windows Control Panel menu. By selecting Disable auto-updating for the Viewpoint Manager -- the player will no longer attempt to check for updates. Anything that is installed without your consent is suspect. Read what Viewpoint says and make your own decision.


Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without user's approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad".
This may change, read Viewpoint to Plunge Into Adware.

I recommend that you remove the Viewpoint products; however, decide for yourself.

Reboot your computer on into Safe Mode by continuously tapping the F8 key as soon as the computer begins to boot. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Click on button. A box will pop up asking you if you wish to fix the selected items. Please choose YES. Once it has fixed them, please exit/close HijackThis.

Please set your system to show all files.

1. Click Start.
2. Open My Computer.
3. Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
4. Select the View Tab.
5. Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
6. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
7. Click Yes to confirm.
8. Click OK.

# Step 5 #

Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), please delete these files and Folders, "if present":

Check the "Hide file extensions for known file types" option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.

Please uninstall any of the following program(s) using Add/Remove Programs if they are present. To do this, go to Start > Settings > Control Panel and double-click on Add/Remove Programs. From within Add/Remove Programs highlight each one and select Remove:

Viewpoint
Viewpoint Manager
Viewpoint Media Player
Viewpoit Toolbar
AIM
AIM6


Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".

Now, close any open browsers.

• Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

IMPORTANT: The above script was written specifically for this infection on this person's computer. It is NOT to be used on another computer, as it may cause damage that could result in a format!

• Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe
  
• Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe
• When finished, it shall produce a log for you at "C:\ComboFix.txt". Post them along with a new HijackThis log.

Note:Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall
