Seems like a very odd question. Why do you want to know?

Well basically what types of limitations POST has e.g. The onboard speaker is one as it cannot give the user detailed information on a fault as it can only communicate in sequential beeps. Would there be any others? It's for work I've been set, I've researched on the net but wondered if anyone else had any ideas.

Hi all, I would like to know what the limiations of POST are? Currently I have the onboard speaker and drive size but any others would be great. I've researched on the net and they are the only two i could find. Limitations of POST are either it either POSTs in some form or it doesn't POST at all. I don't believe in the term of "half POSTing" or "part POSTing" because getting it to show you a screen is technically POSTing in action, and where it falls over is a failed POST. Some boards (mostly MSI boards) have special PCI brackets that illuminate a set of lights that stop on whatever bit has packed up. Assuming it can get that far, that is. Some boards have audio POST speaker options but in the majority of cases they're no good if the thing doesn't come on at all. |
