Java on Verizon and OBEX, ....vs. Symbian and Sprint/Nextel

Can Javascripts be run on a Verizon phone using the native OBEX platform?

My understanding is Verizon will not allow execution of javascripts, hence trying to install any through a data transfer would be futile.

Trying to settle a dispute with a fellow geek. Your insights are, as always, greatly appreciated.
