Well I tried using the upgrade disc on the computer.
No go cause I need a full. Tried using the boot up disc then using the upgrade disc failed. Tried the windows suggestions well some of them havent found a working one yet. The problem i cant get to my desktop or anything. At the log in screen it gives the error then it says im missing another file. Reno This post has been edited by Reno: Apr 14 2008, 12:10 AM |

Hi Reno
Lets try a quick and easy 1.Start your computer, press and hold CTRL, and then choose Safe Mode Command Prompt Only from the Windows 98 Startup menu. 2.At the MS-DOS prompt, type cd\windows\command, and then press ENTER. Where windows is the name of the folder in which Windows is installed. 3.At the C: prompt, type scanreg /restore, and then press ENTER. NOTE the space between scanreg and / 4.Select the previous registry you want to restore, and then press ENTER.NOTE: A properly working registry has the word "Started" next to the date. 5.When you receive notification that you restored a properly working registry, press ENTER to restart your computer. Cheers peterm |

Greetings Reno
A startup disk will allow you to start/boot your computer to a command prompt. Also contains tools to file manage and some system repair utilities. QUOTE I downloaded one from a site and put it on my floppy is that good enough? 1. Do I know which one you downloaded? 2. Will it work? See question 1. 3. How does it work? See question 1. 4. Is it a good one? See question 1. Did you try it? What was your results. Regards Kaz. |
