Is there a file in IE where the last used, saved userid's and passwords are stored for this computer?
Just wondering if there is someplace that logs the id's etc when you log onto sites using IE, and when you come back your info is available.. or worse yet, if someone comes to your computer, they can find this file, and have access to your web sites as you! Is that file also still present in VISTA?

Hi Badams

There's something called AutoComplete which helps users quickly enter information into form fields. The AutoComplete innovation in HTML forms safely stores information entered into INPUT_text and INPUT_password fields. When a user submits a form, the name, value, and domain of the form component are encrypted for safekeeping. Storing the information helps users to complete single-line text fields. The next time that user visits a Web page and begins typing in a text field with the same name, the autocomplete attribute prompts an AutoComplete box to appear, providing the user with a list of previously used data. This is done so you don't have to keep entering the same information over and over again when you enter a site frequetly. The problems lies if someone uses your account, they might have access if those user/password are saved using this feature. I always clean everything with a program called CCleaner just in case.

CCleaner is a freeware PC optimization tool.

CCleaner allows Windows to run faster, more efficiently and gives you more hard disk space.
The best part is that it's Small, Fast and Free!

Cleans the following Windows components:

    - Hidden Index.dat files
    - Last download file location

Firefox
    - Temporary File Cache
    - URL History
    - Cookies
    - Download manager

Recycle Bin
Clipboard
Windows Temporary files
Windows Log files
Recent Documents (on the Start Menu)
Run history (on the Start Menu)
Windows XP Search Assistant history
Windows XP old Prefetch data

You can download it and read about it here.
NOTE: CCleaner it's a fairly powerful tool. Use the default settings only if you don't know what you are doing. There's a tutorial on how to use it on the website. Also, the during the installation, there's a check box for the Yahoo ToolBar. If you don't want it to be installed, uncheck it.

There is more information encrypted into the browser that doesn't use the autocomplete feature. To see what your browser knows, use ie pass view
