Photoshop CS3 White Pixel Problem

Hi guys,

I'm not sure if this has been asked before or if it is a common problem so i'll just tell you whats up and hopefully someone will know whats going on.

Basically, i have only been using photoshop for a couple of days, i'm getting ok at it now, have made a couple of cigs and made a few pics look funky, but then in the last hour or so, things have started going weird.

I opened a new screen and set a black/green gradient on the picture. I then applied a wave distortion to it (as i was following a tutorial). Once i'd clicked apply, the waves came through but also what i can only describe as random white pixels dotted around the black parts of my picture. They can be blacked out or erased but then just move about to another part of the picture.

Personally i find this very weird, but hopefully there is a simple explanation to this problem and it is just some option i have changed or something.

I can make a couple of screenshots of before and after if that helps.

Thanks,

Rob

Welcome to Geeks2Go!

I doubt there are many serious "Photoshoppers" who use this forum to help you with your problem. You will have more specialised help available at the official Photoshop Users forum: http://www.adobe.com/support/forums/

The moderators take exception (understandably) to members linking to other forums, but in this case I hope they will understand why I've done so.

Hi Halo,

Thanks for taking an interest. I actually sorted out the problem; you'll laugh at this one.

I have been following tutorials whilst using photoshop along side and basically, the pixels were tiny fragments of VCL Media player (that i was using to watch the tutorials) that had sumhow penetrated through onto the top window.

I zoomed all the way in to i small group of these 'unidentitifed' pixels and to my suprise i found there was some kind of picture within them. On closer inspection i saw that it was tiny pixels from the tutorial i was watching haha.

Just had to move VLC to the side and it was all fine. My assumption is that it is some inconsistency with VLC somewhere as my computer is new and photshop, well its good.

Thanks anyway, and hopefully this thred will be of use for someone who may come across the problem in future.

Rad

Heh, no problem RadionUK. Just for future reference: some programs do sometimes cause issues when you run them together with photoshop (either causing little niggles like this or causing photoshop to crash, etc). If something like this happens, just save your photoshop psd, close photoshop and reopen your file and check again. If it's there after the save, you have problems!
