Welcome to GeeksToGo slickuser!
Can you give us a budget for this? I'm assuming you live in the US? |

You're right. I live in the US.
I'm thinking below 2k or less. I'm new to this so if I can get a list and start buying. Is Newegg where you guys usually buy the parts? I'm thinking at least 1TB of HDD, 3GB of RAM and stick with Intel. I don't need monitor, keyboard, mouse, and optical drives. |

Hi slickuser,
Sorry for the delay. Are you still interested in some discussion on various parts for your build? Cheers Troy |

Hi there,
yes please with a Conroe XE CPU You are asking for a build with a $2000 limit, and the processor (one component of many) is going to take up more than half of your budget? I recommend a more balanced approach for best performance. Do you intend on overclocking at all? I see from the first post this build is intended for video editing, and some gaming. Newegg is easy to use for recommending parts, but I've never purchased from them (I'm in Australia). You don't have to purchase from them at all, in fact I always recommend shopping around to find the cheapest price for each component. A 1TB hard drive sounds pretty good, I would go with the Seagate 7200.11 drive. Instead of going with 3GB of RAM, you may as well grab a 4GB kit (2x 2GB) for dual channel performance, it'd probably work out cheaper, too. Cheers Troy |
