Hi. My system really slowed down recently. I was also finding that certain web pages would not open either. I scanned with AVG and removed some infected files, however this did'nt help much and I am now getting RUNDLL message (cummvsxj.dll) on start up.

I have followed the earlier advice on this site using the various applications and have removed a lot of nasty sounding files which does seem to have helped somewhat, but I would appreciate any further help to get rid of this message.

Forgot to say, my task manager has also gone rather weird. It used to give me the option to switch between viewing applications, processes etc. Now, it only shows processes and the only way I can close it is by right clicking a little square icon at the bottom of the screen rather than the usual left clicking the X at the top right of the window.

Dont know if this is relevant.

Now, close all other windows but HijackThis, including Explorer windows (folders) and this window, and click Fix. Note: It is vital you close all other windows, otherwise the fix will not succeed.

Restart your computer.

Step2 : OTMoveIt

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer. Please note: If you already have OTMoveIt on your system, please replace it with this newer version.

• Save it to your desktop.
• Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
• Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

• Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be Moved" window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.

• A log of files and folders moved will be created in the c:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder in the form of Date and Time (mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log). Please open this log in Notepad and post its contents in your next reply.
• Close OTMoveIt2

If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

That should fix the RUNDLL errors. As for the system slowdown, you have a lot of services running at the background which are not really necessary and may reasonably slow down older computer. We can remove some if you want.

Please include a new HijackThis log and the OTMoveIt log in your next reply.

Thanks for your help. Think I am finally getting somewhere. However after instructing OTMoveit to move those files I was given these messages in the right hand window:
File/Folder C:\WINDOWS\system32\dethqtqu.dll not found.
File/Folder C:\WINDOWS\system32\cummvsxj.dll not found.

I'm not entirely sure if this means things are fixed or not. I am also not sure how I would open the c:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder to display its contents, or is that what the above is???

Anyway I have included a new HijackThis Log.

Hey dev_765,

Your HijackThis log appears to be clean. We can investigate deeper into this matter to make sure everything is fixed. The log was in that folder you mentioned, yes. Since no files were moved, the folder was empty of files. As for your question - yes, it's normal, since the anti-virus probably deleted the files and didn't delete the reference to them in the registry, hence the rundll errors you were getting.

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.

• Close all other windows before proceeding.
• Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
• When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply. Note: It's likely that the two logs won't fit into one post. If so, please post extra.txt in a separate post.
