ok i have vista and my pc keeps crashing randomly even when its not doing anything ill just leave it siting and ill come back and it will be frozen this also happened to my old computer (witch i eventually got rid of ) on my old computer i formatted the drive and it kept freezing and now its moved on to this one and i really like this computer and i don't want to get rid of it so can someone please help me

Press WIN + Pause / Break on your keyboard. Within the "System" section, click "Windows Experience Index". Within the new window click the link accompanied by the shield that reads "Update my score". Tell me what your score is.

Also: run the "Reliability and Performance Monitor", it might lessen your confusion.

3.0 should be fine, in fact, the minimum base score is 1.0. Did you run the "Reliability and Performance Monitor"?
