PLEASE HELP!!! It crashes and usually the screen turns either pink, or neon green, blue. The screen sometimes breaks up into two different broken screens and it's really distorted. It almost looks as if the screen is shattered. I cant move my mouse, I turn it off by holding down the power button. Sometimes it will work fine for a few hours with out crashing. When I try to load it up into safe mode it lists a bunch of different drives...

multi disk partition windows system 32 driver :
battc.sys
ociide.sys
pciide.sys
pcmcia.sys
mountmgr.sys
volsnap.sys
sr.sys
ndis.sys
mup.sys
drvmcdb.sys

plus a few others

It's a dell latitude d630. Intel core 2d duo
2.20ghz
2.19ghz 2.0 gb of ram
XP Prof

I downloaded Driver Detective and tried to update the drivers. It says i still have 6 drivers that are out of date....but I'm having trouble updating them. Could this be the problem? What do i do?

Thanks in advance for the help

I just got this error message...

BCCode : 10000050 BCP1 : 9837496C BCP2 : 00000000 BCP3 : 8052AC8C
BCP4 : 00000000 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1

I ran Dell Driver Reset Tool and i no driver errors came up.

Welcome, Have you tried a external monitor? Does the issue happen on a external monitor?

tuxmaster, after hooking it up to the external monitor it crashed with the neon colors. After restarting, the screen was broken up.

What should I try next?

Hmm... I had a laptop in recently with all kinds of lines and gibberish down the screen, but that was a hardware issue, this sounds more like a software issue...

Try googling the error messages, for starters, if you haven't already. Have you tried running a repair install of Windows? Have you tried running Chkdsk from the Recovery Console? Just some thoughts here...

I'll try again now...it crashed in the middle of installation last time.

I'm currently doing a Diagnostics Build: 1303

IDE DVD=RW/DVD-RW+-RW GSA- Built In Self Test (Test All): Fail

Result Code: 0F00-281C

Msg: IDE device failed: Non-recoverable hardware error (Internal Target Failure)

I dont know if it completed the test or not...the comp just shutdown. I'll try to reinstall windows now. I'll post when I'm done

So in the middle of re-installation my computer crashed. When I turned it on the screen was broken up and it said that my comp might have overheated and gave me this error

Error Code M1004

I'm still reinstalling windows but the screen is still broken up

It sounds as if your video card is overheating causing the issue. Are we working with a portable or desktop?

My first thought is a heat issue. Make sure your laptop has plenty of circulation around it and that your fans are working properly. If you can download or if you already have installed some monitor software to track the temperature, have it log the temps to a file at regular intervals.
