You're using that much ram on a 32 bit OS. To make full use get a 64 bit OS! Otherwise take it out and save it for later.

Hi there,
What RAM was in there originally, and what did you add? (Make/Model, speeds, timings, etc...) Cheers Troy |

Well if you've noticed improvements, then I guess you've got nothing to worry about. Cheers Troy |

You shouldn't trust any synthetic benchmarks like that as most of the time they do not apply to real world situations. I especially wouldn't trust a synthetic benchmark created by Microsoft...

Just out of curiosity, have you adjusted the SPD values after installing the RAM?
e.g. Have you gone into the BIOS to do any tweaking? James |

What RAM kit did you buy? You're memory likely is not running at optimal settings, which would explain the decreased score of your memory based on the windows vista experience.

On a Dell motherboard I would be very surprised if you change the RAM settings at all. If you could, it would be found somewhere in your system's BIOS.

On the XPS systems you can, other systems I remain doubtful.
Considering you purchased value RAM from Dell, the SPD settings will likely be the same as the rated speed. Meaning, the memory is likely running as fast as it can without overclocking it. I wouldn't worry about the score stated by the windows vista experience benchmark. James This post has been edited by james_8970: May 16 2008, 07:34 PM |

Nah i wasnt that bothered just thought it a bit on the 'strange' side of things
One last question is there much point in overclocking it or not? Thanks for all your help! SpuD |
