Ok heres what I have... I have a modem (cable) that has a cable that goes to a wireless linksys router, then I have a 100 foot wire from the router to the other side of the house for one of my desktops. I have one other desktop hooked to the router, but thats not involved. I have one xbox hooked to the router so that we can play online.. as the set up is it works GREAT!

However there is one small problem. I am trying to hook up a second xbox in the bedroom at the other end of the house with the computer. I dont want to purchase and run another network cable, and I also have HORRIABLE luck wirelessly (its just crappy signal in the bedroom!) so I need to have a WIRED connection to the computer and the xbox, without running another wire.

Someone suggested that I simply place my older/extra router at the end of the cable running into my bedroom and then wire the desktop and xbox into that router. The problem is, that neither the computer or the xbox can see the internet or other computers, almost like there is a firewall on older/extra router that I cant get past... so any suggestions on how to set this up without buying and running more cables???

Where do you have the cable from your router that works plugged into the "old router"? If you have it connected to the "internet" jack on the added router, I think it has to be a "cross-over cable". It may work if you plug the cable into a "port" on the added router.

Note there's 5 RJ-45 (network) ports on the router. 1 to the left, which is for incomming internet and 4 to the right (used for 'switching').

You should have all the cables in the ports (simmilar on yours) on the right of the router.
You should also log into the router and disable the firewall / nat options if there is any configured.

actually... yes i would like help disableing those, the only one I could get to turn off is the wireless

I did everything I could to disable those things you said, but alas... its still not working!

I have a WRK54G, as the "Switch" I wanna use. I have all 3 things plugged into the ports not the single internet side. (one to computer, one to Xbox, and one to other router for internet!) Now if I plug the what I am going to call the active cable into the xbox or to the computer, I can get online, so how do I make it to where I can be on both at same time?

Just letting you know I read your post and I'm searching on what exactly to disable (I myself don't own linksys routers).
Also I'm at work now so I don't have much time.

Well I am able to connect to the internet on the computer (am on now!) and a system link on the xbox, but am unable to get online with xbox... so thats my only problem right now

I see. So using the router as a switch is now working correctly? (just checking.)

actually, yes... after a little twiking, I was able to get it all up and going.... somehow I just played with things and it worked... now the problem is I have 2 linksys routers and they are giveing me [bleep] about logging in, so I changed the ip address on one of them.

so I think I have it all figured out... would have never known where to even look had you not told me... thanks man! Your wonderfull!

You did all the work yourself I just gave a push in the right direction.
