I checked it up on crucial.com and it says : Each memory slot can hold DDR PC2700,DDR PC3200 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.* But I got this computer with a 256MB PC2100 on it.. Is it something wrong? I was looking for buying more ram but this got me wondering... And moreover.. If i was to get new ram, should I get high or low density.. i dont know which one is compatible.. Help appreciated! |

Jeese, still more low vs high density questions. I wish they had never let that crap out of the bag years ago. Just buy low density and be done with it. Low density ram is compatible with all computers systems.
Just for your information http://reviews.ebay.com/Myth-Low-Density-v...000000001236178 Heres the DDR ram modules you could get when they first came out, Standard name Memory clock Cycle time I/O Bus clock Data transfers per second Module name DDR-200 100 MHz 10 ns [1] 100 MHz 200 Million PC-1600 DDR-266 133 MHz 7.5 ns 133 MHz 266 Million PC-2100 DDR-300 150 MHz 6.67 ns 150 MHz 300 Million PC-2400 DDR-333 166 MHz 6 ns 166 MHz 333 Million PC-2700 DDR-400 200 MHz 5 ns 200 MHz 400 Million PC-3200 The PC-1600 was not used much and the 2100 was used simply because it was available. The PC-2400 died in its tracks early on so you are now left with only PC-2700( DDR-333) or PC-3200 (DDR-400). While most systems are able to use thr PC-3200 memory modules a few AMD cpu's did not like it and refused to boot when PC- 3200 memory was used. More than likely you should be able to use PC-3200 memory in your computer. If the computer acts up trade the memory back at the store for some PC-2700 memory( if they even have it). SRX660 |
