so as of a few months ago every once in a while i get a windows help bubble saying; USB Device Not Recognized...One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it, for assitance in solving, click for help. this happened with my printer for a while, ipod, and now my nintendo wifi connection. sometimes it works fine, sometimes it works for a second or two, and sometimes i get that message. this computer never had this problem prior to about 3 months ago. Another message i get is This device can preform faster if you connect to HI Speed 2.0 USB Port. let me know if you have heard of this before and know anything i can do. thanks

Since it's telling you that it can perform faster with a 2.0 USB port, it is implying that your USB port is old. I think it's having issues with older USB ports. Are you directly plugging in your USB device in your computer? or do you plug it in a USB hub which is connected to your computer's USB port?

I've had this issue before where I plug in my USB device to a USB port in my laptop's cooling pad that isn't 2.0.
