How do I close ports on my computer?

I did a port scan on this website:http://www.auditmypc.com/port-scanner.asp and it found an open port that Trojans use. How do I close it?

Type Port Services, Programs and Trojans that are commonly found to be running on this port.
TCP 4567 TRAM.
Trojans or Viruses known to use this port are: File Nail. File Nail.

Also HoverIP v1.0 found the following ports open:

EPMAP 135 DCE endpoint resolution

How exactly are you connected to the internet?
Are you using a router or are you directly connected?

If you are using a router, what router are you using?
If you're directly connected, I hope you have protected your computer with a firewall, If so, which one?

My laptop is connected to a Belkin wireless router which is connected to a DSL modem.

I don't have a Firewall, I tried to install one, but it won't let me with Norton Anti-Virus installed.

What error message does this give you?

You should be able to log into your Belkin router through its IP (found in Ipconfig (under Default Gateway)). Log in and make restrictions to the port.

Comodo Firewall Pro Installer:
The installer has detected the following incompatible applications currently installed on your computer:
Norton Personal Firewall 8.0.5.14
(didn't know I had Norton Firewall...I just installed Anti-virus)

I logged into the router and I blocked port 4567 on the default gateway ....2.1 and my private IP 2.3

Hopefully I can do the same on MY router (I'm borrowing the Belkin)

Any decent router you should be able to block ports.
If not, open your Norton Firewall and look around for where you can block ports then block the port you'd like to block.
(Sorry, Can't deliver any guides on how to work with norton. I personally don't like the product and thus won't use it.)

Also, the other ports you mentioned are valid windows ports.
1043 is one that isn't from windows. This is used for something called BOINC Client.
You might want to google for "Port 1043 TCP" if you don't know what BOINC is.

Can't find Norton Firewall exe

Why don't you like Norton and what do you use?

Ok, So I assume you do know what BOINC is

The reason I don't like norton is because I've had trouble with it in the past and it generally takes up more resources then needed.
I personally use the following tools:
AVG Free (here) = Virus Scanner
Zone Alarm (here) = Firewall
And I manually scan for Adware / Spyware. Usually with tools like MBAM (Google MBAM and you'll find it) or SUPERAntiSpyware.

Also, the norton firewall is probably not called "norton firewall.exe".

Seeing as I paid $, I am going to keep Norton for now.

Once my subscription is up, I think I will research free anti-virus programs.

I've heard a lot about AVG, that is the first one I would try.

Just keep in mind that norton is a bit rough to un-install.
Once the time comes your subscription runs out I suggest you check out this link.
